Good take Wolf. We really lack playmakers and guys that can break a D down. This is why Rondo has a role for this team despite his limitations. Its up to Frank to keep an eye on the spacing issues (if/when it is actually a problem). |

Rondo should be primarily brought in to relieve Lebron of playmaking duties and to feed AD the ball as a first option, when Lebron is resting. If he is playing well, then give him more run. We also haven't seen any moments of Cook, who IMO, is a quality fit for the team because of his ability to shoot the ball. When he returns from injury, I would like to see him get some minutes. |
I like the idea of having either LBJ or Rondo in for 48 minutes. And rarely playing them together.
I also like the potential Bradley possesses for guarding PGs.
But damn can Troy Daniels shoot. And Cook played with alot of confidence in last years finals when he finally got some minutes. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

That kind of thought was popular in the early 2000’s. Who broke the defense down for GS? No one, they broke it down by ball movement, not some guy pounding the ball for half the shot clock. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Though GSW had playmakers at multiple positions. (As OP mentioned both)
That being said, it's up to Frank to monitor what the team needs. |

Rondo didnt play today, and the Lakers had a great offensive and defensive game. Coincidence?
I'm trying to decided if it was mostly due to Rondo not playing, or Steph not playing. Or 50/50. |

Rondo is finished. I want him as an assistant coach who is ready to back stab Jason Kidd, who is ready to back stab Frank Vogel. |

We can cut him while it's still possible. I wish we haven't re-signed him he doesn't fit at all. |

When Lebron sits, the Lakers have no one who can create plays in a guard position/role at a NBA level. Rondo is the only one. I love how much hype Caruso got, yet no one is saying a word about how bad he has been on offense. Rondo has shown he will take 3 point shots if open, and he will be unselfish and find the open man. It's about many things. You appease AD. You continue Lebron's unselfish play. You have a quarterback in the game at all times.
The key is to try and stagger Lebron and Rondo. And the other key is for Frank to get a feel on Rondo that night and what the opposing defense is doing. If Rondo comes in and you can see there is no impact, you end his night there. You have a quality shooter in Cook who can give you spacing. However with Cook, you need to rely on someone else to create plays, and when Lebron sits, teams can start to play aggressive man D and make it difficult to score. If you sense he has made an impact positively, you let him roll. He did this in preseason game 1.
I don't think we have still seen a full game and full rotation, yet. All we have seen is the starting unit and it looks good the 2 games they have started together.
Lebron needs to rest. And someone needs to create the offense when Lebron sits. It can't be Caruso, based on preseason play. Bradley is not a PG. Cook can do some things, but not really a quarterback. Yes ball movement is important, but even the Warriors had Livingston for a reason.
Warriors bench had Livingston, Iggy, and Cook. Primarily it was Iggy and Livingston in charge of playmaking when Curry and Green at.
We should want it to work out with Rondo, not the opposite. Because if Rondo can give us 15 minutes a game, most of it when Lebron is resting, this is huge, IMO. |

We're running a cookie cutter offense with the depth of a kiddy pool.
It'll be enough to bully most teams.
But I don't see us winning a chip unless Rondo has a resurgent year and mixes up the predictability of our sets with his playmaking.
Before anybody replies. I know he shrinks the floor for others. I know he's not the bald Mamba on defense. I'm saying middle of our rotation. End of 1st/beginning of 2nd, end of 3rd/beginning of 4th. Hopefully he can make the 5 people coming off our bench a +. Even against teams like the Clippers.
Because our 1-2 punch is very predictable. And it's a little much to ask them to create all 48 minutes AND close out games against top tier teams.
I was hoping Cousins was gonna have a comeback season and be our 3rd playmaker. But this is where we are now. A squad with 2 playmakers running very obvious sets. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

I love Rondo's game, but he should've never been resigned, not with James on the squad. Those two will never be a good match -- never.
How do you get him to accept a trade? The Lakers actually need him as a backup center, but you may have to bench him for him to accept a trade. That sounds weak as hell to me as typing, but would he be willing otherwise? _________________ A creative scorer, a wing defender, and a shooter. |

I can't get a gauge on his coaching acumen just yet, but Vogel does seem to talk too much. You don't have to show all your cards.

I'm more concerned that he thinks Rondo can or should play that many mins.
McGee (20), AD (14), Dwight (14)
AD (20), Kuzma (28)
LeBron (30), Kuzma (6), Green (12)
Green (14), KCP (20), Bradley (14)
Bradley (14), Cook (18), Rondo (16) |

Bring KCPs minutes down by half and Cook's minutes down by 3. Up Greens minutes by 6 and Rondo's by 7. That is what I am guessing Vogel will do. We need Danny Green to play 32+ MPG for us because our perimeter D is horrendous without him |

We will get worked with Rondo starting unless he plays some defense and shoots the ball |

Rondo and Kuz should be the leaders of our bench mob imo. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Vogel will have a very rude awakening when he realizes that Rondo and James are not effective on the floor together.
Vogel is super happy to have a true floor general, but his James doesn't need that. James needs a secondary ball-handler who can shoot and get his own shot. _________________ A creative scorer, a wing defender, and a shooter. |

If they "have" to play Rondo, do so off the bench as a bench playmaker.
I think AD/LBJ started the 1st Q just fine. It was when we had no creator on the 2nd unit that we started collapsing (and KL destroying PCP).
Kuz coming back, IMO, will really help a lot. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
