ESPN wrote a timeline on Kobe and LeJames scoring journey.
One of the timelines: Kobe started his first game in the SECOND season.
Lol. Years later on Kobe smacked the stupid coach's face with 62 points in three quarters, beating his whole team by one point.
When LeJames passes Kobe's total points, we should give him some applause. Good job LeJames. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples

I dont like his beard.
Unless he wins two more rings, he can have the current beard to look like Brown Thanos. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |

Take the purely rah-rah show to the LBJ thread. Cuz now you're just trolling and you damn well know it. |

That season before the draft, MJ fell back hard against Knicks?
He hurt his head pretty badly but miraculously he survived.
One writer wrote that the bulls would likely pick Kobe on the draft if MJ suffered a career ending injury.
Lol.
Edited: This is why we owe it so much to Jerry West for going extra miles to get Kobe and made sure Lakers got him. It also helped that Phil Jackson sort of said "nobody wants to babysit 18 year old," when referring to possibility of teams drafting Kobe. Well, Kobe ended up babysat Phil. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples

Because he’s a troll. It’s meant to annoy. |
Lol yup. |
We cracked the case |
|
Yes, ringfinger? What is it now? |
Player fans are generally pretty annoying but he’s not any different than the rest so let’s not single the guy out. |
I agree with ringfinger. Posters are not to get personal and talk about other posters. People may report a post and let the Mods handle.
So to sum up:
Both LaLaLakeShow and MetroToStaples are crapping on this thread in their own opposite ways. CUT IT OUT. BOTH OF YOU OR I WILL SUSPEND YOU BOTH. |

Kobe>LeBron
Lakers all day either way |
Now you’re being the guy you personally attacked except you’re pointing the arrow a different way.
Cmon guys, on this topic, we can do better, no? Let’s bring the evidence and duke it out!!! |
How is that exactly?
I think Kobe’s better
I’ve given detailed reasons why in the 1st 20 or so pages of this thread.
So explain how you think I’m in the wrong, if you can
I even said “Lakers all day either way” in order to put the most important thing 1st, in the end. The Purple and Gold |
And he thinks the opposite. But instead of bringing the backup, just keeps saying it and things like it over and over like the other side is.
Anyway, let’s stick to the arguments for and against. For instance, which advanced stats should (and shouldn’t) matter in the discussion in your mind? |
All of them are inconsequential when comparing players who played under the rise of their banner and those who did not. The very fact that they exist and are used to measure a player’s effectiveness and therefore overall value contributes to the manner in which the modern star plays.
This knowledge changes the present to such a degree that the past is at an immediate disadvantage if judged through their lens. If Kobe had come into the league with these numbers being preached by coaching staffs then his choices out on the court would have been different. Not to mention the physical positioning of his teammates, the overall pace, the shots available to him, etc etc.
Therefore, his stats would have necessarily been altered. Perhaps drastically.
We can never know just how much, unfortunately.
This is why it’s difficult to compare players from different eras.
Kobe and LeBron are somewhat unique in the fact that they are 2 giants of the game whose primes crossed paths fairly close at a time when the league was being altered in such a degree not seen since the incorporation of the 3 point line, imo.
Kobe most certainly was the last Legend of a now faded era.
MJ’s influence is all over him. Right down to the reality of having shared the same coach and system.
The further away you get from the type of game these two existed within the less these analytics have to say about the players themselves. At least when weighing them against each other.
Kobe is far superior in footwork, shot making ability, offensive creativity and the plain shooting of the basketball. He was quicker off the dribble and could change angles mid air in ways few have ever dreamed.
I’ve seen him hit a fade away 3 with his left hand and do a myriad of other things on the court that LeBron could never dream of doing no matter how hard he practiced. LeBron could never compare to Kobe’s array of skills and overall basketball genius.
Now, what LeBron has on Kobe is his court vision, his size and his strength. And he has used those talents to the fullest over his career. The fact that he was also as quick as he was put almost every other player at an immediate disadvantage. It’s the Shaq conundrum all over again. The only true matchup for Shaq would have been another Shaq. Same with LeBron.
Add in the fact that LeBron has benefited from a watered down enforcement of basic league rules (like taking more than 2 steps after the dribble, over reactions on slight contact from defenders and a host of other disingenuous refereeing) and this advantage grows exponentially.
Rebounds are a moot point due to position, although Kobe was a tenacious rebounder for a guard as well as a wonderful passer (something he very rarely gets any credit for)
It took LeBron nearly a decade to grow the stones necessary to become a winner and reliable leader when the money was on the line.
This is a HUGE area where Kobe will always have him dominated. Kobe was a mere 21 when he took over that game in Indiana and by the age of 22 was the most ferocious and unstoppable player in the league, hands down. Even Shaq backed that one up. And each and every year after that Kobe added and added to his game until he had more stuff in his bag then Merlin.
LeBron still has no signature move he can rely on when the clock is ticking down and that is only one of the many reasons I would always trust Kobe in those waning moments that decide who is going to pull victory out of the ether.
Both top 10 players. But Kobe just better, Brother |

I think the one constantly trolling here should get some kind of "permanent" ban. That troll must be laughing out loud having posted all his stuffs deliberately over and over again and getting away with a slap on the wrist.
Well, luckily, I don't name any poster. So, I am safe I guess. _________________ Kobe's Top 5 Dunks, 81 points, MJ last gm @Staples |

Still, only 161 pages? Feels like ages ago when we passed the 100 page mark |

I gotcha. Apologies if I overstepped earlier. I’m more of a casual observer to the thread. I appreciate you. We all do. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go back to lurking in the shadows.
P.S. KOBE AND LEBRON ARE BOTH FREAKING AWESOME AND THEY’RE BOTH LAKERS!!! |
