John Lewis just passed. Great and brave man.
RIP, give a big hello to Elijah Cummings. Wish you could have both lasted to see Trump excised from the WH. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

To the extent that this country is a democracy, it took people like John Lewis to make it one. Rest in peace, rest in power. |

I believe I heard on the news it's in the works to do just that.
Gone but never forgotten. John Robert Lewis will be in American History books. RIP _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Should have been done a long time ago and when he was still alive instead of keeping another @&$?!@! tribute up to a KKK grand dragon. |

This felt imminent, but it's no less tragic. On a personal note, this is how he felt about equal rights for the LGBTQ community:
"I’ve heard the reasons for opposing civil marriage for same-sex couples. Cut through the distractions, and they stink of the same fear, hatred, and intolerance I have known in racism and in bigotry. I have fought too hard and too long against discrimination based on race and color not to stand up against discrimination based on sexual orientation.”
RIP to an American icon, and thank you for your service, sir. |

A great quote for this time in history. RIP to a great man full of courage and heart -- something sadly lacking in many of our politicians. |

And after they rename the bridge, the first thing the new congress should do (after retaking the Senate and the White House) is to restore and expand the "Voting Rights Act" and name it after John Lewis. And make it permanent and not something that needs to be renewed. |

A reminder that John Lewis saw through John Roberts' record on civil rights before Roberts was confirmed as Supreme Court Justice, that Roberts wrote the decision that gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act in order to better ensure white conservative supremacy, and that a bill to restore the VRA sits on Mitch McConnell's desk after being passed through the House while McConnell cries crocodile tears in public over Rep. Lewis' passing. _________________ Under New Management |

That's just it: "Whites" are not supreme (or superior) to anybody else, as evidenced by how much they have to stack the deck against "non-whites"...in order to maintain their "superior" status.

RIP Mr. Lewis. One of the greatest American citizens in history. Devoted his life to creating a more perfect union. Unfortunately, there are peaks and valleys in that pursuit that the public are forced to tread. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

Sitting here for some reason John Lewis crossed my mind. I've seen, heard and been around civil rights leaders of different races and times. John Lewis was the kind of man that reminded me of how I chose my church home.
I'd visited many churches and denominations. Episcopal, Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal-Holiness, Protestant, to name a few.
Churches I visited the ministers just didn't seem believable. My impression was they were on a job not in a pulpit.
When I walked into the sanctuary of the Church Of God In Christ in Los Angeles I honestly felt like a spirit physically grabbed me. I knew I was home. Bishop Charles E Blake's delivery impressed me. He seemed to believe what he was saying.
That's what I got from John Lewis, I felt him believable. He didn't sound or act like a man trying to make an impression. He impressed me as a man saying what he meant and believing what he said.
Mr. Lewis was a man of vision and honor. I don't see his like in the House of Representatives. He's irreplaceable. I hope he's replicated by someone in the House. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
