With the young core instead of AD, we would be a good playoff team, but not as good as we are now. Ingram would've given LeBron a legit sidekick, but we would've been without AD's post scoring, rim protection, rebounding and transition buckets.
This reminds me of something Dr. Buss told Kobe when he demanded a trade. Buss said something along the lines of, if he sold a 16-carat pendant for 4 4-carat pendants, they would've be worth nearly as much as the 16-carat pendant. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers

I put loss in WCF... but for this analogy to be fair... you'd need some fortunate signings like getting Dwight and Rondo for nothing added to the youngsters.
I'm hoping for the best this season... But I'd feel a lot better if Rondo was healthy or Bradley was playing.
It's too bad CoVid derailed this current team because they had a good chance of winning it all.
I wonder if you added AD to the Bucks instead of Giannis if they'd be more like the Pelicans AD teams or the second or third best team in the league?
Probably somewhere in between.
The key as always is LBJ. I can't put AD at Bron's level or even Giannis's until he proves he can win without him.
Lose in first round IMO because too many other good vet teams in the West. Defense would be a problem, even though I appreciate Lonzo there. Ball and Dlo and Lebron, too iffy.
a team with lebron and no AD will not win a ring. It will be exactly the same as the year before AD.
as you know me, i don't think lebron brings anything to the table an average nba player doesn't....like an Aminu or Randle or a whole bunch of other starters.
Also we have never seen a lebron team succeed without a lot of other stars around him. Honestly, our team has nothing special outside of AD and Lebron. And Lebron is not because of the skills, just because of the name. So this question....we wouldn't go anywhere. If you like teams that don't win rings, but has players you like....maybe you would enjoy that.

I don't think young pups plus LBJ works practically...he wouldn't accept it. Still I take BI over AD long term.
Why would you take Ingram over AD?
It isn't because I think BI is better than AD now, he obviously isn't. I just prefer the home grown long term talent of BI. He also has the ability to bring the ball up court and do more offensively. If AD stays and stays healthy then it isn't a huge disparity but if he continues to have injuries and we can't get a second star to complement him when LBJ leaves, then we are the Pels 2.0 for a 2-3 year window.
Struggle to make the playoffs, but if we made it anywhere from first round out to WCFs on the back of Lebron. I ended up voting first round out to split the difference.

Ingram is showing out by not being the sidekick. Sublimating his game to Bron wasn’t going to work. His style means he has to be an alpha. The question now is whether he’s an alpha that can lead a good team or just the guy who fills up numbers on a bad or mediocre one. _________________ “We must always take sides. The tough thing about this hypothetical is James is not a “fit” for the rest of the players. His expectations and goals do not align with a young rebuilding team. Never did.
That is why most assumed the inevitable trade for a sidekick once they couldn’t sign one. That is why James was not interested in playing on a rebuilding team and it showed with his lack of commitment to the young core. I don’t remember the exact timeline but had the season even started before the desire to trade for Davis was leaked by Klutch and James.
The Lakers and James have exactly the team they desired. Now win. There are no more excuses or years to fine tune the roster.
As for the young Pelicans team. They have a foundation for a future. It will be interesting to see if they can take advantage of the assets or squander it.
Two teams in different places. Last year was just a bad fit for a lot of reasons. Most importantly because James wasn’t interested in it.

The simple answer can be found in how well the teams we traded our young players to are doing. Probably the only one who we maybe should have kept is Jordan Clarkson. _________________ Not a legend

Need to change the culture with the coaching. The talent is there.
Yup. When you have such young players like Zion/BI/Zo, it's going to take a few years.
Lakers got a completed package in AD to compete now. We are just terrible at developing young players sadly. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I am still shocked that they didn’t totally clean house and send Gentry packing.
Gentry is a company man. He's there to take all the losses and when the roster is mature, they'll bring in a coach to win. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

I disagree. LAL didn't optimize their abilities. Pels have the space to do that.
I think we're agreeing that the LAL don't optimize abilities. But I don't think Zo/BI are ready to win championships right now or next season either. But they could have been developed better. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
