The fake bidding war makes much more sense. Celtics have a lot of draft picks and they have a spare , that expiring Hayward contract who will most likely to opt in. If they feel they are one piece away, they have the edge. |
Celtics need Smart's defense and Kemba is the other starter. Got others who need the ball like Jaylen and Tatum. What they need is a big to contain Bam/AD etc if they are looking for that final piece. |
Kemba was a big disappointment in the playoff. Not only he got switch hunt on defense, he can’t also get past any halfcourt trap. If anything they should trade him along with Hayward for CP3 and Adams. If this is the time to go all in, Ainge should do it as long as they don’t lose Smart, Brown and Tatum which is their core moving forward even if they don’t win it all with CP3. |
OKC wouldn't want that Kemba contract unless so many picks are attached to it. CP3 contract has way more trade value than Kemba. Besides, if CP3 and Bron wanna play together(almost a certain ring for CP3 unlike small Celtics who can't deal with Bam let alone AD), Ainge won't risk pissing off CP3 by meddling in given his age and how much he's owed in that contract. |
OKC can trade him to any team they wish. They are not making decisions on CP3 best interest . You can take our Kemba out of equation and still Celtics have the most enticing assets . I would love CP3 to be in our team but I can’t see it happening unless CP have the veto power. |
CP3's contract is albatross unless he's giving his best. So his best interest will matter to teams looking to trade for him. He wants to win a championship and Boston are not even a top 3 contender. We all know how we got a prime AD despite Boston having better assets. Bron can screw Ainge the same way if he's dreaming of CP3. |
OKC will be trading him to whatever fit their best interest not CP3. If Celtics make their bid, they have the best and most desirable assets. Let me put it this way, It’s all about what OKC wants to do, not CP3.
Regarding AD. Ainge did not want to trade his youth because unlike us, they don’t have Lebron to compete for championship . Without a chance of winning and AD walk out, they are left with nothing . But Pelicans would have easily made the trade if Celtics attached Tatum in that AD deal. |
Celtics didn't give up their assets because AD didn't want to go there(and would be one year rental). Same way they wouldn't give up better assets than Kuz, #28 if CP3 is interested in only Lakers. Getting a pissed off CP3 on that contract could mess up Celtics chemistry(Irving trade worked out badly chemistry wise) so CP3/his agent can dissuade teams from trading for him. That's my point. Don't wanna go back and forth on this. |
You still missing the point because OKC has the total control where to trade him. Saying CP3 will throw fits and tantrums is pure speculation. NBA is business first, a veteran like CP3 is professional enough to understand this. |
How many times in NBA history has a player of Paul’s stature been traded somewhere they refused to play? At the end of the day talent rules in this league and team’s always accommodate stars up to a point. This means players give the FO a short list and deals take place within the context of that list. CP3 ain’t going somewhere he doesn’t want to be, he just may have to settle for his #2 or #3 choice. |

Knicks: ?

Celtics have 3 first round picks including a lottery pick from Memphis this year plus they own all of their future 1st round pick. They have best assets for OKC. OKC can also make Hayward look good and flip him on trade deadline. If they do bid, OKC will probably take that in a heartbeat. That’s a big IF because Ainge like to stack draft picks. |
CP3 also would take out Celts out of 2021 max FA, would they do it? I know we would because we'll be contending |
They don’t have cap space as Tatum is due for Max extension and he has a cap hold. The key for them is getting something for Hayward before Tatum sign his max. |

It would almost be worth it just to see Steve Ballmer's head explode. But I'd take a pass on it. Lebron is an aging injury risk. We don't need to double down on it. Besides, we can do without the State Farm commercials. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Availability is definitely not one of CP3's best abilities. We need players who can last for four playoff rounds not just one or two.
If he really wants to be a Laker, let him work something out with the Thunder to secure his release. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

No thanks, would have him if he got bought out, but wouldn’t trade for an ageing star with a massive contract who is at least a concern injury wise.
Would rather trade for Oladipo or Beal, the dream would be Booker but we don’t have the pieces to get it done.
As much as a PG would be great for the team, a capable and reliable scorer is just as important IMO. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

Not taking the player leverage out of equation because each situation is different. But the move has to be mutually beneficial for both party.
You think CP3 will have gone to OKC if he has a choice?

Oladipo is much more attainable. He's making $20mm.
Beal no chance |

I don't want to trade five or six players. I would rather bring Rondo back and keep our depth. Or find another trade less complicated. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Do it. We'd have:
CP3
Caruso
THT (rotation guy next year!)
Lebron
AD
Then:
1. Re-sign KCP
2. Re-sign Markieff
3. Re-sign Dwight
4. Sign a defensive wing at the MLE
5. Sign a stretch big for the minimum
6. Sign rings chasers for the min
CP3/Caruso
KCP/THT
Lebron/MLE
AD/Markieff
Dwight |

Danny and Kuz are the only playoff rotation players in that deal. JaVale, Cook, and Bradley did not matter in the playoffs. |

Most fans trash their own role players when it comes to actual play then overvalued them when it comes to trade . If Kuz and Green are like trash then it makes no sense for OKC to trade him to us when you know they can get much better asset than our garbage . |

As we saw this season, the Lakers can just cruise through the league with ease with what they already have. No need to reinvent the wheel. |

We can’t just keep our same team and while others are getting better. We have to keep getting better! The players that you are saying we can simply cruise with are not better than cp3 now and he is older. Kuzma and DG actually contributed to the championship team, but very little cp3 will make the team much more dangerous and please stop thinking that Giannis is coming like KL was coming |

It’s pretty interesting that despite the great relationship between LeBron and CP3, CP3 has not signed with Klutch Sports, maybe a trade to the Lakers changes all that. |

Agree. If he really wants to be a Laker, let him give up some of that ridiculous salary in a buyout. But I'm sure he doesn't want it that much. |

He's the President of the NBPA. He's not taking a buyout unless OKC gives him the full amount. And there's no reason OKC would do that. |

I don't like giving up our defensive depth for CP3 at this stage in his career.
Especially since Rondo and CP3 don't like each other, so playing together might not be an option. Especially since there are a number of teams who would love to have him. We get CP3 and lose Rondo/DG/Bradley/Kuzma/Cook/McGee
We're opening a ton of roster spots, which would get filled by who? If we had a clearer understanding of who is available it would seem like a better deal.
DG and Kuzma don't get a lot of love on here, but they were important to why we won the championship: defense. Can CP3 plus the presumptive minimum pickups fit in seamlessly? Or are we trading defense for offense? |
