Glad to see how Jeanie was able to turn this franchise around.
I was very critical of her when all that (bleep) with Jim and Mitch happened, but I'm happy to eat crow.
Since Magic quit, the franchise shut down all the noise and is doing the work. |

I’ll eat crow on the Linda Rambis slander also. Had no clue that she’s worked with and been friends with Jeannie even before she got married to Kurt. The way it sounded to me before was as if she was just some basketball housewife who struck up a friendship with the owner’s daughter, and now a Kim kardashian type was making basketball decisions. |

I used to think none of the Buss kids were competent enough to run the franchise. Glad to know I was wrong and the real incompetent one, ol' Jimbo, was jettisoned from his position. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Good article but it felt like an abrupt end. Felt like the writer hit his/her word count and just gave up.
That said, Jeanie has completely vindicated herself. There was a time where just about everyone thought Jeanie was going to run the franchise into the ground with her lack of experience and the emotional nature of the drama that ensured. Even when she promoted Pelinka after Magic stepped down there was sharp criticism. Yet in the end, it was her finally doing it her way that brought the Lakers back. |

From the article: "The Lakers franchise was valued at $1 billion when Ms. Buss took control in 2013, according to Forbes, and is now valued at an estimated $4.4 billion, the second only to the New York Knicks."
LOL why TF are the Knicks worth so much? _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

That my friend, is called media spin. How good is the media to leave that part out, until now. It is pretty obvious that the Lakers FO made some mistakes, especially when Magic was around as Magic has a big appetite for speaking to media (not the best trait in a FO executive) but the way the media just let them hang out for dry .... and jumped all in on the unproven Clipper wagon. Disgusts me. |

Her big bros seem bitter:
"Johnny, the owner of the Ice House Comedy Club, said he now isn’t speaking to his brother Jim and maintains an emotional distance from the management of the family business and from the sister in charge. “Jeanie really matured in the last two years, to a point I’m really proud of her, but it doesn’t mean I’ll talk to her much,” he said. (A lawyer for Jim Buss could not be reached for comment.)" _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

They own MSG, we don't own Staples. That's why. |

“With my brother, I couldn’t understand what he was doing, it was opposite of what we were taught by our dad,” Ms. Buss said — namely, signing a superstar and building a team to complement that player’s talents. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

The market. |
Lakers market is Fresno to the Mexican Border & Hawaii to Las Vegas.
That is bigger than the Knicks Tri-State Area.
Southern California proper equals Tri-State Area with just under 24M population. And they ain't richer either.
Knicks bigger valuation comes down to East Coast NYC bias of Forbes.
Fresno city (not part of Southern California proper) has a bigger population than the city of Boston. Yes, I know the "Boston" market is really New England. |

Although, I think if the Lakers were offered at even $10B+, you'll have a lot of billionaires lining up to bid for the franchise.
I'm not so sure about the Knicks at that value. |

The fact that Johnny and Jim aren't speaking to each other . . .
In any event, unless they sell it will all belong to Joey in the end. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |
