The misogyny and racism is blaring like a siren. If you don't think Democratic women and especially Democratic women of color aren't noticing the blatant double standard being applied to women of color vs white male nominees, I don't know what to tell you. If the Democratic party can't be bothered to fight for women of color, then what's the point? |
So what to do? is 50-50 more important than what you're saying? I don't know the answer to this |
Accepting it quietly with a shrug of the shoulders is the thing NOT to do. If you have to nominate someone else, you nominate another woman of color. And you still have to loudly point out the blatant double-standard being applied, point out that it's racist, point out that it' sexist and unfair. Journalists need to keep keep pressing people like Manchin on why he voted for the Republican white male bottom feeders without batting an eyelash but a smart, assertive, outspoken, accomplished woman is just too "divisive." Pointing out racism, sexism and double-standards IS NOT DIVISIVE. The people like Manchin (and most GOP congress people) who perpetuate the bigotry with a polite smile and shrug of the shoulders are the people who are keeping America divided. Push back on the false narrative. Whether it's Biden, or Harris, or other senior spokespeople, just say the thing that's perfectly obvious. |

Now that Trump's lost the cover of the Oval Office people are gonna be coming at him from all angles. The banks have dropped him he may have to start selling assets to pay for lawyers. I have a feeling TRUMP'S GOING DOWN! I also believe he going to learn LINK
Trump may soon have to answer rape allegations under oath

No, I'm saying that whether he stays or goes, the Democratic party still needs to confront racism, sexism, bigotry and double-standards and let the chips fall where they may. If he has to act like a racist-sexist (bleep) to keep his seat in his state, that's on him. But calling it out for what it is, is on us. |

In West Virginia? Capito won her election there 70-27 in 2020. Manchin will be replaced by a super right Republican when he’s gone. |

If DC, Puerto Rico (and maybe even the Virgin Islands) had statehood, you wouldn't have to worry about Joe Manchin. Unfortunately you can't even get to that vote right now without him. (bleep) him. |

Sinema deserves some criticism here too. She’s pretty much a match to Manchin politically. She’s far less vulnerable than Kelly in Arizona since he’s defending in 2022, yet Kelly is much more supportive of Biden’s agenda and nominees. |

Just so you don't think I'm a one-woman crank machine:
Quote: | Joy-Ann @JoyAnnReid
Republicans/Republican groups have opposed and/or run ads attacking these Biden nominees:
- Vanita Gupta (AAPI woman/DOJ)
- Neera Tanden (AAPI woman/OMB)
- Xavier Becerra (Latino/HHS)
- Alejandro Mayorkas (Latino/DHS *confirmed)
- Janet Yellen (Jewish woman/Treasury *confirmed)
...and they are gearing up to fight Deb Haaland’s nomination as Interior Secretary (she is an Indigenous American woman). I think that’s something we should just notice about Republicans, who have not generally attacked Biden’s white male nominees.
It’s pretty gross for any Democrat to get on that train, though looks like Joe Manchin is grabbing a ticket to ride. But the bottom line is, these transparent Republicans had no problem confirming the worst of the worst Trump cabinet nominees, from Bill Barr to Mike Pompeo.
And they seem to have a particular gripe with nominees who are not white men. Just something quite on brand about the GOP that’s worth noticing. I’ll note that they didn’t have the cojones to mess with Lloyd Austin... |

One Republican Senator comes out for Haaland -- using slightly awkward language, but he's a yes:
Quote: | Emma Dumain @Emma_Dumain
. _at_ DonYoungAK also says he's supporting Haaland for Interior because she's an "American Indian," and that "her working with her native people will be beneficial to the Secretary of the Interior." |

Some reports that Democrats in the Congressional Black Caucus have begun to advocate for Shalanda Young. An aide for the House Appropriations Committee, and Biden's previous pick to serve as deputy director of the OMB. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

That means Murkowski will be a go and Manchin sounds like he'll also be on board. Tanden looks like the only one who won't make it through so far because of mean tweets and Manchin's fragile manhood. _________________ Under New Management |

I tried to look back and find it on Twitter and couldn't, but I saw that Tanden had railed against the jacking up of the price of EpiPen when all that was going down. Joe Manchin's daughter is Heather Bresch. Heather Bresch is the former CEO of Mylan. Mylan is the company that produces the EpiPen. Coincidence?
Also, despite filing the necessary paperwork last week, David Perdue has decided NOT to run for the Georgia Senate seat in the '22 election. |
