It would certainly be amazing offensively. I worry about the lack of perimeter size defensively though. DS and KCP are already a bit too small together. |

I'd rather pay THT $10M to start at PG than π° Schroder $20-25M to start at PG.
If we are down to Schroder, THT or Caruso, let Schroder walk. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

I would take both THT and Dennis, if those were the only 2 options.
THT just was not ready last year.
Who knows if he will be this year. _________________ ππ π π π #18!!! |

THT wasn't ready.
DS is a poor fit and will likely never be a good fit.
IMHO, THT at his best is still better than Schroder at his. I'd rather gamble on THT getting better than DS changing. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

I agree.
But signing DS doesn't mean we're married to him.
He can be traded later on if THT balls out. _________________ ππ π π π #18!!! |

That's true but I'm worried Schroder will want a salary that will be very hard to move in the future. We don't have a lot of assets. If we give him $25M/yr, we'd have to add assets to move him - See NOP/MEM trade.
I don't see Schroder's value exceeding what he can get on the open market this year. If he can't get $25M from anyone else, no one will want to trade for him at that price, thus, we'd be married to him. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

Yea. $25 might just be too much. I was thinking of the lowest price you mentioned at $20.
In the end, I can't see the Lakers offering him $20+M. _________________ ππ π π π #18!!! |

Lakers offered him that during the season. He declined.
If DS accepted around $18M to start, sure. That's a lot of money AND we could likely move him.
Anything over $20M? That's a gamble we take. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

I'd rather have DeMar DeRozan than Buddy, but I'd welcome Buddy if we get him. He's just not really good in 1 area. I understand some people like to go to advanced analytics, but watching him play, I don't feel he does 1 thing that good. He's average at best, that can't really play defense. Maybe on our team he'll be different, time will tell, but I wouldn't put my chips in on him. |

Hield is a great shooter who will likely shoot better in the starting lineup next to LeBron. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

I don't like the idea of KCP at the 3 defensively. That's just asking for trouble. We've seen how bad he is when he gets switched onto an opposing 3. |

DeMar DeRozan would be an awful fit, on both ends of the court. He had a chance to come to LA a few years ago - had he done so, we could've constructed a team that maximized his talent. But as we are constructed now, DD will just be in the way of what we are trying to do. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

This is one of the Kuz trades I'm hesitant but I can at least see the merit in it. I'm just worried that once he doesn't get 10 3 point shots a night hows that going to affect his rhythm and shooting. Also if hes off shooting wise he doesn't really provide anything else that you need from a championship role player. He might have a lot of bad habits having been on a losing team his whole career like Drummond. |

He'll get his shots if he's on the court. Heck, our lousy shooters passed up ,ore than 10 wide open threes per game. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

KCP overpassing the ball happened occasionally, but its overblown imo. Nobody on our team averaged even close to 10 3 pointers a game. I'm just saying like every role player on this team his shot attempts aren't going to come nearly as often as hes used to. |

Kuz was at 5.6 attempts last season off the bench. Not wild to imagine Buddy would get at least 8 attempts starting for us.
Even if he won't get enough shots as he's used to, the gravity that he'd have just being on the court would free up a lot of space for AD and Bron to work with. We haven't seen an elite shooter with AD and Bron yet, one that defenders have to chase around the halfcourt. He's at the top tier as far as 3pt shotmaking goes _________________ Plan A - Schroder/Hield/Lebron/AD/Gasol

Big fan of what Hield can do for us. Sacramento has long been one of the most poorly coached teams in the league, a tradition continued by Luke Walton. Hield has a sort of toughness that I think would shine more when he's put in more of a winning context, something he's never seen in Sac. His role is as a secondary, three point heavy scorer in our non-alpha lineups or as a spot-up flamethrower next to LBJ and AD. If there's a constant in the league, you can never have more shooting, and our inability to space the floor correlated with very low scoring nights routinely last season. It's the reason why shooters are always (over)drafted. Hield will generate the well needed scoring/shooting gravity to grease the offensive wheels. He's a good fit next to LBJ/THT/Caruso, our attack guard/perimeter players.
Hield can be subsumed into our defensive schemes--there's athleticism, rebounding and some shotblocking by size--and even if he's undersized, we're one of the bigger teams in the league. Our team ethos/Vogel will cover up for him. |

The one thing he does is a an ELITE level.
And we REALLY need that elite level skill.
Which happened to be the most important skill in todayβs NBA. _________________ Darvin |
