Solid poll. The negativity was perplexing, but clearly the silent majority likes the trade. _________________

The majority of LG basketball experts like WB. We know what that means.

I’ll view Westbrook more as a regular season move but I am still hoping it will pan out because he did want to be a Laker after all. His desires pretty much tells me he will do whatever it takes. So hopefully he can set aside his ego when he get slighted. There’s one thing I like about this is how he can make it easy for AD to get those lob passes and alley hoops. |

Wow shocked at the 70 percent approval ratings
Mostly I read negative comments
But I guess a lot of people believe in the talent upgrade that you got from going from KCP to Westbrook. |

I'm conflicted. I'd like to see Westbrook improve his jumper. Conflicted because, if he improves his shot he might stop rushing the rim. When he goes to the hole low post defenders have to switch opening it up for Bron and AD's midrange, 15 to 18 ft, jumpers both have good midrange shots. Also, he might fall in love with the 3.
I voted Yay on the trade. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

As it stands, it’s a negative from me but I’ll wait and see how the roster fills out. Maybe Buddy is involved, maybe Lebron and Westbrook recruit some solid role players, but as it stands now this is a rough fit. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

If the trade details are all corrected
We got completely fleeced.
I would do an investigation on Pelinka, whether or not Washington paid him money under the table. |

Definitely a talent upgrade but the most important thing to me is they got Lebron/AD injury insurance. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I think this combo can be even more lethal than the one LeBron had in Miami with Bosh and Wade. It's basically the same kind of position players. If they can stay healthy....they will be VERY tough to beat. |

If Westbrook was 5 years younger, I would love this trade. A little concerned about his age. Basically sent out trash though. |

Feels like most fans agree it's a talent upgrade and are cautiously optimistic, waiting to see how the roster fills out |

Westbrook is definitely an upgrade over Kuzma _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. thats an unfair comparison, its not just KCP for Westbrook but what other moves that could have been made instead.
As of now we know for sure we could have had:
Buddy
KCP
Lebron
AD
WITH more cap flexibility to S&T Dennis OR simply resign him back
I jumped off the Dennis train a long time ago but I'd do this all day long over Westbrook.
And just for fun lets entertain this "KCP for Westbrook" scenario... come playoff time, possessions slow down, defenses tighten up... who is helping make Lebron and AD's job easier? a 40% 3 point shooting defender in KCP who can help space the floor or Westbrook who creates anti space as defenders ignore him clog the paint and is a subpar defender on the other end?
Westbrook is like bad team building 101 _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

Would have took KCP, THT just to get Lowry last season and he wants a three-year for $30 million a year. |

Exactly. Do you want to commit to Russ up to 34 or Lowry up to 38 or CP3 at 39. |

Looking at Westbrook, CP3, Buddy Hield and DeMar DeRozan comparisons, if we look at the Simple Rating comparisons for last season, we have (own production vs opponent’s; and on the court vs off):
CP3 at 07.3 and 2.8 for a rating of 5.8
RW at 05.4 and 0.1 for a rating of 3.6
BH. at 00.1 and 8.7 for a rating of 3.0
DD. at 10.2 and -1.7 for a rating of 6.2
If we look at ESPN’s +/-:
CP3 has a RPM of 3.54 and wins at 10.78
RW has a RPM of 2.03 and wins at 08.98
BH. has a RPM of 2.26 and wins at 09.38
DD. has a RPM of .-.83 and wins at 02.60
By this alone, CP3 was the better choice, though not happening; Westbrook and Hield were about a wash, though Westbrook's salary and player cost, is a big negative; and DeMar looks great by the Simple rating (at least great against his guy) and not so by +/- in either rating. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Even though I'm not a fan of the trade, I'm really excited to see what it looks like. My interest is way higher than previous years. |

Let's keep in mind that many people were bashing the AD trade when it went down and saying we gave up too much. Those people suddenly disappeared when we got the ring that season. Same thing will happen this season. Many of these people will turn around and claim they knew Russ would be good for the Lakers all along, so, hopefully, someone bumps this thread after we win. |

Keep in mind that critics of the trade don't know what the final roster will look like. Many people, myself included, will feel better given certain additional pieces. |

Great statistical breakdown. I think one thing that those stats don't address is "age." CP3 is 36 years old. RW is 32. I'm not convinced that CP3 can maintain those numbers. I would venture to say, his numbers will decline. |
