|
|
First off, can anyone point me to a good vonage forum? I've searched a bit, but can't find a good one.
If there are any Vonage experts around here, I'd appreciate some help. I recently set up Vonage for my parents, but I don't live in the same city, so don't have direct access to the set up. Basically, the service works, but they're getting distortion and calls fading in and out. This is a problem for them, not a problem for people calling in.
The setup is:
Cable modem -> Linksys wireless access point -> Linksys vonage box -> phone
Bandwidth Saver is set to "highest sound quality". The phone is about 5 feet from the vonage box and the vonage box is maybe 2 to 3 feet from the wireless hub.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks! |

I've had Vonage for almost 2 years now... and love,.. and fortunately, never had an issue (knock on wood).
Is there any electric equipment near or using the same outlet as the vonage router/phone? If so,... try moving those items to another area not near the vonage equipment.

Yeah, unfortunately, there's a lot of stuff (all the computer stuff, printer, etc.) plugged into the same power strip. Pretty much impossible to avoid that.
I spotted the forum you link to last night, but it's not the most user friendly in terms of searching for stuff. I'll give it another go though. Thanks for the link! |

Vonage=If it works, 10+
If you need help, dump it.
I have NEVER dealt with a support team as clueless as Vonages. Finnally worked out things myself and it's terrific. |

Vonage is lame
What happens if the power goes out? You are screwed.
What happens if your cell phone doesn't work?
You are screwed.
Just because you CAN do something (i.e. internet telephony) doesn't always mean it is a good idea.
Vonage is lame, sorry. |
