Silver medal is actually perfect for Team France. I don't think they really wanted the pressure of being the defending Olympic champions going into Paris 2024. This way, now, they have a chip on their shoulders and revenge on their minds when they play in front of their home crowd.

USA did not deserve to win the gold. Near monopoly on the world’s superstar yet still only barely won.
Yes they deserve to win. When the final buzzer sounded USA had more points = win. There needn’t be a bunch of if/when conditions on what constitutes a “deserved” win.
Also you know this isn’t 92 or whatever dream team Olympics when it was USA basketball players and the rest of the world suck. Nowadays half the folks we face are in the NBA and another third used to be in the NBA. I mean it’s just the landscape is different. This was two good teams and we ended up winning.
(Edited to be coherent)

They did enough to win the games when it mattered....the other teams probably overperformed with the amount of talent they had on their teams just to keep it close. Anyways, seems like they averted whatever disaster was on the horizon for the next squad.
So you think the USA was never really in danger of losing this game?
With how much better defense they were playing compared to the exhibition and early tournament game, no way they were gonna lose this game, especially since they were super motivated to avenge the last 2 losses to France.

What does that even mean? We didn't deserve to win because we didn't blow them out? I guess we need to go back and take away those gold medals from 2008 and 2012 because the gold medal games weren't blowouts. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved

KD saves Team USA.
Remember when folks were calling him a “fraud” after Game 1 of group play? it kills me when fans come up with that garbage
Honestly TD he was a cruise control in those exhibition games. An say he was fresh off the Finals like Jrue, Midds ,and Devin he could say he was gassed coming into Fiba play but that wasn’t the case. He had almost an entire month off leading to these games.
MJ, Kobe, and Lebron would never take any of these games lightly. Once you put that USA jersey on it’s WIN or lose you CITIZENSHIP!
I also think Team USA mens basketball now have a tradition to uphold, they don't want to be that team that broke the streak and be up there with the 2004 Athens team.

Plus if we’re revisiting the past, those Pau And Marc Gasol Spain teams >>>>>>>> Rudy and Team France!!!!
I find it interesting how our views differ on some of these things: it’s definitely debatable and no one is necessarily right or wrong on it. All good.
But personally, I didn’t see what Levine did as disrespect because he did it after the horn, and waited until the horn to do it. If he had done that as the clock was running down, I would’ve had a different view on it though. Just my take on it though

Every game! even exhibitions, just how I feel when it’s US vs any country… this ain’t US vs the rest of the world team
But they lost to France the first time and to Australia/Nigeria in exhibitions. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
