First of all, LAL would have had to buy a 2nd rounder. Even then, I still would have likely picked Sims.
Marc Gasol is a prime example of defensive IQ being timing based despite being "fat and slow" when he was a rookie. He's also the most outlier All Defensive Player of all time, so chances are, there's not a great reference.
Jokic slipped in the draft because he was too skinny and people didn't believe he couldn't build his body, but there's a giant divide between Jokic's skill set back then vs Garza.
That's why Sengun went 16th and Garza didn't. Another draft twitter team didn't want to repeat the same mistake. |
I’m gonna remember this post Mike! And if Garza turns out to be really good, I’m going to….most likely do nothing because I’ll probably forget anyway. BUT ILL TRY TO REMEMBER NOW! |
Every year there's hits and misses. No professional scout is even 70% right, and there's only 1 guy I know that is, and he's in the league.
Garza is not a miss I'll ever worry about. |

You grab the bull by the horns, take charge, and distance yourself. The reason we lose is because we have no leader. One that demands excellence. One that puts their foot on the pedal. He, to my opinion has the most basketball iq out there and seems to have the best feel for the game, but he's a little too subtle with his approach; like I shot once, now it's your turn. Just go out there and ball out, and ball to win, not ball to be nice. |
UDFA that gets the most USG and has been playing a ton of minutes every game as well as being the offensive engine for the team, obviously will back off in summer pro league.
Hell, it's already a good idea to shut down your best players, 1-2 games ago. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Ayayi may not have the stats but he has played well these past 2 games. Shows all his complementary skills, makes the right pass, solid defense, plays under control, looks good in his limited opportunities to run the break and initiate the offense. Nice to see the change from his first few games. |

Saben Lee of the Pistons is a solid player. Easily one of the top PG's this SL. Could see Cade and Killian running at SG if Saben is on the court. |

Couple of long lanky 6'9" wings that have impressed is Derrick Alston Jr and Jamorko Pickett. Would prefer over Cacok if Lakers decide to sign a developmental player. |

Lakers wasted a camp invite on McClung. He is not close to being ready. He needs to really add to and improve his skillset. |

Wrote about Alston Jr. prior to the draft. Pickett, I didn't believe in his 2-point ability in the same way I did Grimes.
Also would be an awesome development player for South Bay. Dunno if GSW keeps him. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Need to keep Queen and Brown.
They can be solid bodies at the wing. |

Queen, reaves and brown are decent, but Maclung and Ayayi are terrible. Lakers should consider to let them go. |

I’m finding a way to keep Queen, Reaves and Brown if I’m the Lakers.
Ayayi has the tools so if they can sneak him through that could lead to something. |
