RW has been playing pass-first this whole pre-season that he almost becomes too predictable that whenever he drives he’s kicking the ball back out to the 3-point shooters in the corners.
He’s also being forced to make jumpers, a lot of his 3-point looks are completely open, defense wants him to take those shots. Hopefully he’ll be a better shooter than he was in recent years.
The half glass full is that RW eventually adjusts fine but it took him a few months to do it in both Houston and Washington. _________________ Tacos
They won't do it, but russ should be leading the bench crowd and and rondo starting... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

RW didn’t eventually adjust in Houston. Houston had to basically trade away every big and go crazy small ball to adjust to RW.
Washington lacked talent and was just an average team so they could live with the good and bad of RW.
For anyone with hopes that RW would be a different player surrounded by stars on a team that is championship or bust, the preseason has shown that he won’t be. Still takes bad shots, still careless with the ball, still lost on defense, still can’t make 3s. It only took 3 games to see that he is who he is and that isn’t a recipe for championship basketball.
The Lakers. The only advantage for Simmons is defense and age. Westbrook is better in every other aspect. Westbrook may not be a shooter but he will take the shot. Not to mention his playoff issues.
I would have been fine with trading for Simmons this summer if you could get him cheap enough but no way you give you a Westbrook for him.
Russ shot 37% from 3 in the preseason but had a horrible 25% fg shooting and 6.9to per game. Definitely only up from here if you want to look at it that way.
Westbrick earned that nickname for a reason. He hasn't been a good shooter for years now. Why is it so hard for this Lakers team to get consistently good outside shooters, like the Clippers have?

Because the Clippers have Jerry and the Lakers have Rob...and Jeanie. _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024

Beal is shooting 33% for the preseason and Mitchell 32%. Should they be christened BealBrick and Donovan Miss-ell?
It's preseason, it doesn't matter. But could we maybe get at least some intelligent analysis that doesn't involve kindergarten level name calling and sky is falling dramatics?

I hope this doesn’t turn into a Dennis Schroeder type of turnout. LBJ talking bout practice well it certainly isn’t looking good on the court. At least win a friggin preseason game or why even play cause they can’t even make shots, I don’t wanna hear it’s preseason. You guys were getting outplayed & scored upon will like very few tried to even create 5 minutes of good basketball… _________________ My Laker squad.

I suppose that’s his nickname? My favorite is lord voldemort, “he who shall not be named.” I see a star player in passive mode, in these preseason games, he isn’t looking to attack, he’s looking to pass the rock.
The funny thing is that Rajon has done a much better job at playmaking than Russell and Lebron. Some of these people had him buried on the depth chart. He needs to play 20 minutes.

Call them whatever you want but facts are facts. Beal and Mitchell are not on this team. Maybe you're being too sensitive about a nickname that was bestowed on Russell years ago based on his CAREER shooting.
When you watch how Rondo runs the point and how Westbrook does. It shows you the flaws in Westbrook's approach.
For someone that used to be accused of 'hawking assists' Rondo really shines in actually running the point and getting people involved. He wasn't even suppose to play much this year but he's outplayed Russ in the pre-season as a point guard and in general. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Brodie still playing tight, pretty obvious it’s supratentorial not physical. The more reps he get with Bron-AD and our shooters, the better he’ll be… though Vogel need to solve the Brodie defender sagging off him to double AD, make some cut plays between the two, punish this drop
With 33/33/75 shooting splits, Westy had his best shooting game of the preseason. And only 5 turnovers!
But I’m sure we’re going to hear nonstop about how slow Westbrook starts his seasons but that is an incomplete statement. The real way his seasons usually go is: He starts slow, looks great for a stretch in the regular season, and plays terribly in the playoffs. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

The Westbrook trade has been a disappointment so far.
Westbrook has shown a tendency for turnovers and cannot shoot.
For a superstar this is a problem.
Pelinka has to learn to stop fixing what is not broken.
Lebron and Rondo is enough elite playmaking. Nunn adds the bench.
Westbrook was not needed.
Not at the expense of the loss of an elite defense and draft pick.
Loss of Gasol is stupid.
I agree. Why was Westbrick brought to this team? We had playmakers. We had rebounders. We needed a shooter. We could have signed a shooter. RB is NOT a shooter.

Because we go after names not the needs.
we got rid of 2 best defenders in KCP and AC( not to mention Trez, kuz and pick) and got WB. Filled all other needs with bunch of old vets.
WB- bad defender
Mink-Bad defender
Ellington- Bad defender
melo-Worst
THT- bad defender
how are we planning on playing elite defense? do we have enough firepower to offset that?

Names = Sign Westbrook
Needs = S&T for Lonzo and trading for Buddy Hield
My biggest fear is that we traded away our top 3 defense for an equally mediocre offense. To me, this team is a total mystery without KCP and Caruso's defensive value.

I watched only the first half due to the time zone difference, but I was actually encouraged by what I saw from Westbrook. It wasn't great, but there were times when it seemed like he was getting into the flow. There were times when he didn't seem to know what to do when Lebron or Rondo had the ball, but that is fixable. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved
