How is this dude in the league, let alone the Lakers? G league talent at best. A big who is physically weak but not skilled offensively nor defensively. Starting to see the same in Wood. So far they have been terrible signings. |

Good thing we got Wood for his offense in case Hayes still hasn't found his groove in the league.
How many minutes did Wood play tonight without LeBron?

I really didnt like the CWood signing when we really needed a real center..but i even got to say you atleast got to play the guy..like its stupid..You want to do a dumbe 5 out offense but you dont put him out there....But this is not HAM HOCK HEADS FAULT. right? Its his lack of minutes played which he cant even get..but run that narrative. |

Wood sucked ass. He gave up two wide open 3s to his man (well not quite wide open, just weak ass close outs after giving up too much space). He was a remarkable -12 in 4 minutes. Hayes sucks too, but Wood deserved no minutes after that stretch. |

With about a third of the season gone it seems worthwhile to compare Hayes this year with how he was doing last year:
Mpg: 13.0 -> 10.9 .. lowest of his 5 year career
ORB per 36: 2.3 -> 1.8 .. lowest of his 5 year career
DRB per 36: 5.5 -> 4.8 .. lowest of his 5 year career
BLK per 36: 1.1 -> 1.3 .. ticked up from last year to roughly be on par with his prior years
I'm not going to bother with the offensive numbers because that's not his role.
The takeaway is that so far things have not clicked for him, he's getting fewer minutes and performing slightly worse than last year - which happened to be a down year for him anyways. |

I think Laker fans had too big of expectations for this guy. Same people hyping up Mo Bamba are now disappointed Hayes sucks too. There’s a reason these players bounce around and it’s bc they just aren’t big producers. Wood is a far bigger mystery tho |

He's really awful man. Cranjis insists he's not being used right which seems reasonable since he has some positive traits even if his bball IQ is negative |

1 rebound in 9 minutes and nothing else. Poor attitude and whatnot, but I'm sure even Wood can contribute that. |

Hmm, this is the first I'm hearing of this - I thought the kid had a good relationship with Ham and looked like he was always cheering the team from the bench. Where have you heard this? |

Mo Bamba against the Heat
18 points and 6 rebounds
We had a chance to keep him but to choose to get a raw project on the team and a stretch big who hardly sees the floor |

I was one of those hyping up Bamba. All I ever wanted to see was for him & AD to have some serious run together to see how they fit. Never saw it. We could have used a 7'2, 38pct from three, long-armed, long-limbed, lane clogging big.
Hell, even if it was every now and then, we still could have used his 18pt & 6 rebounds yesterday. |

All those who wanted Hey Hey Hayes over Bamba in the offseason and praised this signing, raise your hand and get your pie in the face. I, for one, NEVER wanted Sideshow Bob Hayes and knew he would be as useless as he is showing himself to be. My goodness, Shaqtin McGee was used as a comp for this dude and Shaqtin was considered the UPSIDE version......pathetic. The same Shaqtin who used to drive me crazy because he was stealing minutes from Dwight and was starting for god knows what reason over Dwight but it certainly wasn't because he was the better player. |

Hayes is like Prince, you assume he would be a good defender, but every metric shows he’s actually not. Hayes mostly just stands and jumps up. He doesn’t work or do anything on defense but just stand in front of his man and hope for the best.
Hayes is actually a worst defender than Wood this season. Although Wood hasn’t been a good defender either, his defensive rating and overall impact gives the Lakers a much better outcome than Hayes:
Wood vs Hayes
DRTG: 112.2 vs 113.9
BPM: -4.3 vs -5.4
RPM: 0.0 vs -1.6
All of these are in favor of Wood who is seen as slightly net neutral, but Hayes is an overall net negative.
Then you have your regular stats:
PPG: 6.8 vs 2.9
RPG: 5.5 vs 1.9
BPG: 0.6 vs 0.2
FG: 46.8 vs 66.0
3P: 28.0 vs 0.0
FT: 61.8 vs 53.6
Wood is clearly the much better player than Hayes this season. Since Hayes isn’t giving the Lakers defense or rebounding and is actually leaking points, just play Wood then. _________________ Tacos |

I wanted Bamba to get a fair shot, and liked the versatility.
Hayes is the goofiest player we have had since Nick Young, but at least Swaggy P could go off for 20.
You literally get NOTHING from Hayes.
- Doesn't screen well
- Can't defend
- Poor rebounder
-Only a lob threat on offense which is easily guarded

Agreed. JaVale was a valuable contributor (albeit an imperfect one) in his two seasons here. Hayes literally does nothing while on the floor. |

Stop. The Lakers have Christian Wood who is 10x better than Mo Bamba.
We just have a coach that is refusing to maximize what he can do. THAT is on the coach. if The Heat had Wood and the Lakers had Bamba you'd be talking about why we kept Bamba over Wood who was a free agent and wanted to be here.
It comes down to coaching and role, Spo is good at it, Ham is not. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
