Just a small snippett from the article. He's scouting in Spain. I wonder what players he may be looking at?

Quote:
The radiant smile of Magic Johnson first cast its spell over Lakers fans when he played in Southern California's Summer Pro League in 1979.

The exuberant talent of Kobe Bryant first descended upon Lakers fans when he played in the Long Beach Summer Pro League in 1996.

For 37 years, fans saw the beginnings of greatness when Johnson, Bryant and so many other Lakers took their first professional steps during summers in the Southland.

That won't be the case this summer. Like so many of their NBA brothers, the Lakers have moved on to play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas this July.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said the reason for the change is simple.

"There was nobody to play against," Kupchak said by phone from Barcelona, Spain, where he is scouting. "I can't sugarcoat it. As you know, you have to go where the competition is."

Marc Gasol (Pau's bro) and Tiago Splitter are the only notable players I know from Spain.

Maybe Rudy Fernandez (I hope not) and Ricky Rubio (even though he's not eligible).

Marc Gasol and Rudy Fernandez came to mind...not sure they play at Barcelona though.

Doesnt Fran Vazques (Magic's pick at 2005 Draft) play there?

A couple of mock drafts have the Lakers drafting Rudy. I'd like to see the Lakers get Acie law but emplay has said he'll go higher than the Lakers pick. Maybe they can use those 2nds to move up?

I want Law too... great all-around PG with some major balls, that's what we need.

I think I remember hearing ties between Fernandez and the Lakers a year or two ago. Let's hope not.
