This is really bizarro world. We're talking about all of our Laker dreams being realized by Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge and Larry Bird. |

Because they'd commit to Paul Pierce NOW by giving up some of tomorrow's talent. You know, the same reason they were going after Garnett. Obviously, JO isn't KG, but he's still an all-star and true low post player with superb defense. Pair him with Paul Pierce in the LEast and they could be a very dangerous inside-out combo. |

Kobe asking to be traded was actually a diverse tactic - creat smoke screen and distract other teams' attention from the KG derby. All the teams on Kobe's wish list - Suns, Bulls, Mavs - were reportedly interested in and capable of pulling off a KG trade. _________________ "I think I've been forgotten about a little bit as far as what I can do on the basketball court,'' the Los Angeles Lakers star guard said, "People forget." |

On top of a 4-team deal actually being orchestrated by head-bean-counter-in-charge Mitchell J Kupchak.
Could be PR spin ("hey, we tried...").
But I still believe! |

Why, you're probably right... KG may be in McHales office right now saying things like...
KG: Ya'll knew I was just bull (bleep) right? I thought after I told you I didn't want to go to Boston that you could see I wasn't interested in leaving. WTF, ya'll just stupid or what? I don't mind playing with Kobe, but I was thinking more along the lines of bringing him over here...
McHale: Good, I can't stand those (bleep) anyway! Why didn't you just say that from jump? _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

West
Pierce
who cares
Al Jefferson
J Oneal
thats more than enough to compete in the east |
Not sure they wouldn't have to give up Al Jefferson. After all, the package has to be attractive to Minny - and they want Jefferson and that 5th pick. Jefferson, #5 and Ratliff's expiring K - is that enough for Minny? I know they want young talent (Jefferson), high draft pick (#5) and expiring Ks (Ratliff) and perhaps a throw in of ours, as well.

As a matter of fact, none of the team above is capable of pulling off KG deal... |

Im sure KG would love to come over if he can get more than he would if he opted out and signed for the MLE to get out of minny |
I would hope we could get him for under $20m a year fixed ($15M?), although we're still going to be over the cap long term unless Kobe takes less in 2 years.
But at least now, we'd be the preferred destination for the Finleys, Webbers and others who have their money and want a shot at a ring. |
