Gasol is a great fill-in until Bynum returns, and is an excellent compliment at PF. He has a superior face up game, and the skills and athleticism necessary to finish around the basket.
We just morphed from having arguably the worst starting forwards in the league to having one of best.... |

Holy schnikes! This should be interesting. The flipside is the financial ramifications on the Lakers' cap space going forward. Gasol's contract runs through 2011. |

I'm listening to Loose Canons at 12:05pm to see if they'll confirm this. _________________ Kobe, if you want to be a hero, you have to take hero shots. --Bob Costas |

Memphis got screwed.
Think about it: If the Lakers included Marc Gasol in the deal, Memphis could have simply assigned him jersey #16. Think of all the happy Grizz fans, who won't have to retire their Gasol jersey. |

He has to be STOKED, he gets to play on a great team and he gets to play with his brother next year. I can't wait for Pau. Trade Lamar for Battier and we have THE MOST BALANCED team in the NBA. |

Nah, Odom is damn good. It's just that he's struggling right now. We need to keep Odom. He'll come around. _________________ Kobe, if you want to be a hero, you have to take hero shots. --Bob Costas |

Considering Gasol's contract, this shuts down any 2010 cap space plan.
Meaning?
Maybe, just maybe, Kobe has let them he's here to stay if they get Gasol.
With the supporting cast that he now has around him, there is no way in hell he leaves, no matter how much he hates the FO.
This could have been the move that officially ends the Kobe Situation. |

Imagine if the Lakers had traded LO for Marion.
Fisher/Kobe/Marion/Gasol/Bynum
Though, at this point, if Gasol works out, I can see the Lakers just letting Lamar go after next year (unless he resigns for far less). They can't afford to max out Kobe and Bynum, pay Gasol what he's making, and pay another player $15M as well. _________________ Jeffs

Or it could give Cleveland a much-needed face saving Gasol-for-LeBron trade. |

Trade Lamar for Battier, Wells (expiring), and Snyder (expiring) before the deadline. |
