if it were Marcellus Wallace that would be one thing. he'd at least send the Wolf to clean up Paul Pierce. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

he played for nevada. i go to the university of hawaii so i've seen him play live several times (WAC). i always thought of him as a small forward in a guard's body. he doesn't really handle the ball well, and even though he's pretty athletic and his body is solid, he settles for a lot of jumpshots.
i could go on but it won't really matter, he's probably just another summer league roster spot. |

|
|
Quote: | Marcelus Kemp is close to a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, his agent said Tuesday.
"We haven't closed on a deal," agent John Grieg said. "We are essentially headed that route with the Lakers, but I really can't discuss it at the moment."
Grieg said a deal should be finalized in the next 10 days to two weeks.
"The Lakers have liked him and have been watching him for a while," Grieg said. "They're feeling fortunate to get him where they have, in a sense. He'll leave on Sunday to head to L.A. to begin his journey.
"He fits in with their kind of style. The triangle (offense) is a multipurpose guard format. I think he can fit in well with that."
Grieg said Kemp, who is from Seattle and did not immediately return a call seeking comment, made a strong impression on NBA teams.
"I think Marcelus has done an excellent job representing himself on a professional basis," he said. "That carries a lot of weight with teams. His maturity and poise as a sixth-year senior, that carries a lot of weight with them. He should be proud of that."... |

Quote: | 07 Draft Profile
NBA Draft: Marcelus Kemp
College: Nevada
Year: Junior
Position: SG
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 210lbs
Accolades: First Team All-WAC (07), WAC All-Tournament Team (07), WAC All-Tournament Team (06).
Scouting Report: A fifth-year junior scoring machine.
Strengths: Explosive scorer – topped 20 points 16 times this year, and 30 points twice. Three-point bomber – made about 2.5 threes per game, and hit at a 40% clip. Can shoot with a defender’s hand in his face. Can create his own shot off the dribble. Good rebounder for a two-guard. Good free throw shooter.
Weaknesses: Already 23-years-old – two years older than other juniors. Injury prone – missed two full seasons due to injuries – foot and ACL. Turnover prone – averaged more turnovers than assists for his college career – not what you want to see out of a guard prospect. Doesn’t have real great size for the NBA. Never been “the man” at Nevada with Nick Fazekas around.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Mid second round pick – undrafted.
Consensus: Kemp’s age and average NBA size makes him a lukewarm NBA prospect. However, he definitely can score and if he can work on taking care of the ball he may be able to make the NBA. |

This year profile
Quote: | NBA Comparison: Von Wafer
Strengths: 2-guard with prolific offensive skills ... Excellent outside shooter with good range ... Has a scorers mentality and knows how to score in a variety of ways ... Fundamentally sound ... Solid in his midrange game with a quick release and good shooting mechanics ... Excels at catch and shoot. Also knows how to create shots for himself off the dribble. A decent athlete, though nothing outstanding ... Plays with a lot of maturity and composure, not easily rattled and steps up in clutch situations ... Excellent free throw shooter ... Solid defensively, although he doesn't pick up a lot of steals, he stays in front of his man and puts forth good effort ... Has a solid understanding of the game and plays well in a team concept ...
Weaknesses: Not especially long or athletic. A shade under 6-5 ... Could struggle to find the same success creating shots against bigger and more athletic opponents at the next level ... Has struggled some in his senior season with defenses no longer having to focus their attention to Nick Fazekas and keying their attention around Kemp. Making matters more difficult is the loss of point guard Ramon Sessions who was able to set Kemp up for shots. Kemp's shooting percentages are likely to drop off as he'll be forced to take more difficult shots ... Not a great passer. Lacks the vision to consistently set up teammates for baskets ... Must cut down on turnovers. His ball handling isn't where it needs to be ... At a disadvantage playing in the WAC as his statistics aren't as highly regarded against lesser competition ... Knee injury caused him to miss his sophomore year. He has rebounded with 2 solid seasons since then but the concern for his knee is still there ...
Notes: Declared for the 2007 NBA draft and competed at the Orlando predraft camp drawing praise for his scoring ability from NBA scouts ... |

Ironically, even though from Seattle, he's not one of Shawn's kids. |
