What are your favorite protein shakes/powders and protein bars?
Factor in price as well since they are expensive.
Websites/Costs/Grams of Protein would be helpful

Maaaaaaaaan! I need to give it a rest with the ground beef. Sucks when you live a quarter of a mile from the great Carl Karchers restaurant, Carls Jr aka Carlos Jr. Let me tell you this. I've eaten enough cow flesh in my life to give competition to the terodactyl era!

APEX bars are the best... get the "fix" and they are not too thick, not too chewy, and not too sweet. They are the only protein bars I can eat regularly. The shakes are really good too. [/code] _________________ MTFBWYA |

i think its called pure whey protein
when you go to the vitamin store, its the most refined look, not the big massive red ones with ahnold on the cover, or the ones with big X's on it to resemble some sort of superhuman strength.
just pure picture of pouring milk.
whatever you get, whey protein i hear (and read) is the best at helping torn muscle fibers rebuild, so keep that in mind and don't get blasted by AHNOLD marketing ploys. _________________ In regards to a certain fan wanting to cut his wrists:

I like to take Isopure. Very good protein powder. Its not too expensive i think it was like 70 bucks and it last quite a while.
And a good protein shake is Lean body vanilla or chocolate. Very tasty drinks and have about 20 grams( i think it was 20 havent had one in a bit forgot) of protein in them |

nothing fancy from me:
i use the GNC strawberry whey for my shakes. I throw 2 scoops in the blender with water, a banana and some frozen strawberries.
and then i also use some cheap vanilla whey from walmart with my oatmeal.
not a fan of protein bars, too expensive to try to eat all the time.
Just eat some peanut butter sandwiches on whole wheat bread (use natural peanut butter)
much cheaper and better but it is pretty calorie dense at about 400Cal (yet if you are looking at protein bars you are typically trying to build muscle where extra Calories are needed) _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

I use Met-Rx meal replacement shakes. It's good for me because I get really lazy and forgetful when it comes to taking multi-vitamins, but hunger always reminds me to drink a shake. _________________ Nerd rock in progress.

I like the Gatorade Nutrition shakes. They are pretty tasty and contain 2o grams of protein.
Gatorade Nutrition Shake
They also have these new Protein Recovery Shake, but I have never had one so I don't know what is in them.

I think Muscle Milk shakes are awful. I've read studies that said to just drink chocolate milk... it serves the same purpose. _________________ MTFBWYA |

GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein
Its not flavored so i can mix it with anything, gatorade citrus products work well with the mix in my opinion. Not really a shake but its a nice way of getting that protein after the gym.
Dont really do bars either tried a couple in the past, they all tasted nasty from my experience. Although i did recently try a payday protein which taste exactly like a regular payday. I doubt its meant for a protein intake because ive gotten more from a small bag of regular peanuts. |

Mike, I would have to read the article to understand that one i guess...
It's not just a protein drink though, more of a weight gainer/meal replacement...I looked at the dietary outline a few days ago and if I remember correctly, it had 6 or 9 grams of fat, a good amount of carbs with something like 7 grams of sugar, and 30 something grams of protein...
This was in the pre-mixed tore bought 12 or 16 oz version...The things are damn tasty, i must admit... |

I drink a tall glass of milk (20g protein total) with ovaltine mix... it's still 20 grams. I don't get what putting in the chocolate mix would do? Electrolytes? |

The best protein drink ever was called Maxibol. Max Muscle used to make it in the early-mid 90s. My buddy was a powerlifter (ranked #3 at the time) and he turned me onto it.
It never crashed you. It was a helluva energizer, and it broke down in your system extremely fast. I loved it. I then turned my other gym buddies onto it and they swore by it as well. I had half the male members on it after about 3 months.
The guy that made it couldn't keep making it because the shelf-life wasn't good because it just broke down so fast.
I keep the empty bottle with the label attached just to measure other protein powders up against it and so far, Whey-Pro is the closest with the BCAA, which is the true key to building muscle. _________________
