Bynum seems to have the tools so just give it some time. Come back in a couple of months. |

no yao is better, in a short amount of time. He doesn't last long though, run up and down a few time and he's back on the bench. that's the price you have to pay, with yao on the floor it's extremely hard to hit anything close to the basket and grabbing those rebounds.
Luckily he's never clocking in that much anyways. he looks very tired today... |

Come on now, McGrady was still gimpy from having his ankles blown out by Brandon Roy and they still don't have the "Kobe Stopper" Battier. |

if this had to do with my post i dont have any idea how what you said is relevant since we were talking about driving. |
yeah, read what you said again and realized i missed the context of what you were saying. i was following a different line of logic.
essentially, i agree with your point. you need to keep the defense honest. however, fish also has this another piece to his game, which includes pullup transition jumpers way beyond the elbow, or contested jumpers in the halfcourt set. _________________ -Most people learn by saying mother, numb, horse, angry... LOL...um, so welcome to the club that basically everyone in the league belongs to. Yao gets yammed on all the time...but I don't mind as much because he is always trying to contest the shot as opposed to running out of the way like a lot of bigs do.
Ok, this game is obviously over (it has been for a while). My original assessments are the same. You guys are still the team to beat in the West. Bynum and Ariza seem to have improved the defense and y'all have a lot of length. The offensive chemistry that was there last year is still present.
I am not trying to make excuses, but I think this would have been a different game if we weren't on our 3rd game in 4 nights. Not to say we would have won...but our guys didn't play the same towards the end of the 3rd. When I see Landry trying to lay it up instead of dunking, guys tugging on their shorts, and Yao missing 4 freebies in a row....I know the team is tired. You guys would still probably when when Lamar Odom is raining jumpers like Ray Allen....but I don't think it would have been a rout. Y'all looked very, very good tonight.
As far as my Rockets, we are still a work in progress. It's evident that the 3 stars don't have chemistry yet. I'm happy the young guys off the bench are producing (Brooks & Landry) and I can't wait until we get Battier back. I still think we have the pieces to compete for the championship.
And how could anyone honestly not want to a Kobe-Artest matchup in the playoffs??? What I noticed the most from this game is how Ron got out there and fought Kobe the entire time. Ron never quit. Even in the rout, it was Ron gathering the team under the basket to talk during breaks, etc. Some here think it was a bad move on our part....but that dude brings some passion that wasn't on the team earlier. |
Hey, there is a 50 syllable limit on posts in game threads. |
Repost that in DancingBarry's post game thread. |
I'm about to lay it down and I don't see the thread. Fell free to copy/paste it in there or I'll do it sometime tommorow.
Good game fellas.......... |

Better rebounder and shotblocker, yes. Yao is better in every other facet. If the Lakers only wanted to win this year (i.e. I can see keeping Bynum for the long-term) then they would trade for Yao in a heartbeat. You can't run the offense through Bynum. Bynum is not a better passer. Etc....
But we are all entitled to our opinions.... |
You can make an argument about the passing but that bolded part is just ridiculous. You can't anchor this type of defense with Yao. He's not quick enough and doesn't defend on the perimeter (e.g. Pick n Roll) well enough. Bynum is a better shot blocker and recover's on defense much better. Considering this season for the Lakers is gonna be all about defense, no way they take Yao over Bynum. _________________ I get up for everybody. Although Yao is still not 100 percent I do agree with this assessment, that the added weight helps drew not get pushed around anymore, yao struggled today to push him down in the low post, and he made shots harder for Yao just because of his length. Once Yao is 100 percent and Bynum gets back to 100 percent and into full form Bynum will own Yao, book it. _________________ 11/9/12 the day the brown was flushed down!!!!!!

Seriously? Battier isn't going to make an iota of difference. |
He might help, actually, by taking minutes from Artest. I thought Artest started monopolizing the ball for Houston tonite, stagnating their offense. Even when he scored it was off of bad shots/too much dribbling. They seemd to lose much of their flow. And when he does that, he especially takes away T-Mac's aggressivness.
Look for T-Mac to start complaining as the season goes on about how he's being de-emphasized in the offense.
That team has some nice pieces and nice hustle players. But somehow the pieces seem mismatched.
