Vacation in those "tropical, paradise" places like cancun, bahamas, etc

I don't like them either. I find those places to be mostly boring.
What's boring about clear, blue water, where you can see fish right at your feet, the sun on your back and a pina colada in your hand?
That's fun for about an hour. Then you realize there's nothing to do but sit there.
I guess it depends upon what you want from your vacation (action vs. relaxation), and your taste in things to do. Personally, I love to snorkel and scuba dive, as well as boating and other water activities, like a nice tropical walk on the beach, love a little open air bar (especially with local music), and am quite happy spending a couple days with some good books, a drink, and warm salt air wafting over me. _________________ “We must always take sides. ^I prefer the action. Plus, sitting in the sun all day doesn't work out well for me.
that explains just about everything about you not liking the sun.
i'm not laughing at you for not being able to stay in the sun either. _________________ 'How many kids can say growing up that they'll turn pro and play for their favorite team in the world and spend your entire career there? IT'S BEEN A DREAM!'-Kobe Bryant 11.29.15

It's both really. I don't tend to enjoy just sitting around if I'm paying for a vacation. I like to be more active on my vacations and sitting on a beach wears real thin for me.
But yeah, it doesn't help that if I'm in the sun for any period of time without loads of sunscreen I turn into a lobster. Or that it gives me a headache and drains my energy. Or that it's hot and uncomfortable anyway. I'll keep my fun, active, stimulating vacations and y'all can keep the skin cancer _________________ 14-5-3-12

Well, since I'm working on getting lung cancer, might as well couple it with skin cancer, so I can be crispy on the inside and the outside... _________________ “We must always take sides. This post, and the lobster analogy before it just made me hungry.
I like to relax, but it gets boring. I do everything in moderation. I usually go skiing for a vacation, though. I haven't been to Cancun or Hawaii in years, although I went to Catalina this summer and got horribly burned by the sun. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

You say you prefer "action".
Describe what you see as "action".
Have you actually been to such a place? And if so, where was it? Because if you think that's all there was to do, the place failed you big time.
I've been to tropical places almost all around the world - the Caribbean, Yucatan, French Polynesia, Fiji . . . All of them have had tons of opportunity for not only relaxation, but fun and adventure.
I mean look at the Yucatan. There're are temples, jungles, caverns, and history.
French Polynesia? Same things. The Islands were a jumping off place for the people that settled the Pacific Islands and is steeped in history that goes back way before the United States were even on maps.
Both places are teaming with ways to find action. Boating, diving, hiking, exploring, not to mention discovering local culture and diversions.
I don't see how one can say that such a places don't have "action".
Many of the most action packed, adventurous, interesting and memorable moments I have experienced in life came in tropical places.
I don't care where you go in the world, if you just sit back and wait for "action" to find you instead of going out and seeking it, you are going to bored. It doesn't matter if it is a tropical island, a metropolitan city in Europe or a bustling hub in Asia Every place is what you make of it. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

The thread is about what everyone else likes.

That's why whenever I enter a thread everyone stops talking and pretends they weren't just talking about me.
See/ Proof Ocho only enters things he feels might be related to him. I think that's illegal buddy... _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

I hate seeing teens & twenty-somethings wearing old school concert t-shirts like Pink Floyd DSOTM and Hendrix. Are we supposed to believe they actually went to those shows? Whats the point? I'm old now and my concert T collection is actually all shows that I've been to. Friggin posers. _________________ "Time wounds all heels". -John Lennon
