Because Mitch at his best, is a mediocre GM.
The only good draft pick he had is Bynum.
FA signings like Divac and Mckie negates the sigining of Smush, who should be a bench player not a (bleep) starter for the Lakers...
We are still paying Grant 10+ million a year.
Walton, Sasha, Cook and Slava are all NBDL players.
Mitch has never made a trade that favors the Lakers.
Mitch has never found a diamond in the rough except he lucked out in Smush.
Kobe should've signed with the Clippers and they would win it all this year. |

So?

How is a mediocre GM going to find a good draft pick?

I rather my GM sign/trade for short bad K's than long bad K's like some other GM's have.
Kiki - Martin (They all regret that now in Denver)
Dumars - Rasheed (Will be well into decline and being paid 12 million+ at that time)
Bird/Walsh - Bender, Croshere
West - Cardinal
Thorn - Motumbo (trade and then buy out), Zo signing
Petrie - Webber
Buford - Nesterovic
All of those GM's are considered quality GM's. Yet ALL Of them have signed or picked some busts over the year.
So please. While Mitch has made some FA mistakes, all of them don't nearly bite them in the ass as much as some of these other good GM's. Why? Mitch rarely gives someone a long K. Even before the capplan - he never signed anyone to a deal longer than 2-4 years

And since we wiaved him, we also are saving all the amount we pay him in LUX TAX savings. So, if we had kept Shaq, the Lakers would be paying that amount.
Think about it. Slowly. Shaq's deal was up until 2006 at 30 million. The Lakers would've been easily over the cap at tax threshold. So that would mean a TAX. A tax that they aren't paying because they cut Grant.

No, else they wouldn't be in the NBA.
They aren't very good and are role players for the bench. Look at any teams bench - and they will have three to five scrubs on them.

Gary Payton, Rick Fox, 1st round pick for Chris Mihm, Jumaine Jones and Chucky Atkins.
That was a good trade.
The Horace Grant aquistion in 2000 was a very good trade. At the time, it was the biggest trade ever that sent Ewing to Seattle, Grant to LA and Rice to NY.
Trading a small forward that didn't fit for a starting PF that helped the Lakers to become a better low post defensive team?
Yeah, you're right he's never made a trade helped us.

Really?
Chris Mihm considering what he was offered for and paid? A 7 foot Center that average double figures in the NBA getting paid under 4 million? That's a huge steal.
Smush Parker is another one. Andrew Bynum is looking like the best highschool pick in the draft already (Webster is in the D-League and Green is really bad right now)

You are a sorry excuse for a Laker fan. |

I just wonder how so many people are so far ahead of Laker management myself... Can we all be certain that the plan for the future is that big of a joke that Mitch needs to come under constant attack?
Whenever a FA signs with another team the board lights up with Mitch's name drawn up in blood. Nobody knows what went down or, why the Lakers didn't attain said player but, they sure know that Mitch was asleep at the wheel again.
So no, I don't blame Mitch for the things that don't happen. Simply because I have no idea what the hell happened... _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

If you don't know why people are pissed off at Mitch than you haven't followed this team since he took over. |

Bynum will have his ups and downs, but eventually he can become something special. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |
