So you're gonna close the PDTP thread? _________________ I Recommend VLC Player: http://www.videolan.org/ |

But whether or not we agree that something like the Perk or DWill trade belonged in the lounge, having a sticky Welcome thread at the top of the Lounge with an initial post that breaks down the basic do's and don'ts of LG seems like a no-brainer to me.
Do you agree ? |
Completely. |
Noice!!!
What do the rest of you guys think of having the Welcome thread stickied at the top of the Lounge with an initial post that breaks down the basic do's and don'ts of LG ?
Seems like the best place for it by far IMO.
Thoughts ?
Bueller ? Bueller ?
Anybody ? |
Could be ok but keep it simple...
Like mainly just redirect them to:
a) the welcome thread in the neighborhood
b) Neighborhood itself
c) forum index |

Redirect to a sticky thread outlining the basic forum rules.. first of which is a line saying "if you're reading this it's because you tried to start a thread before the required post count. So here's some other basic rules to remember..." _________________ KOBE!!! |

CandyCanes wrote: | fadeaway8 wrote: | Excluding game threads, how many days should an average member take to get to 100 posts? My guess is 10 posts a day, so that's 10 days.
So make it a 10 day limit before someone can start a thread. Making the 100 posts rule will just encourage people to pad their posts, such as in game threads. |
Then they can make an account, leave, and come back. In fact, they can make several as back-ups for after they get banned. |
You are missing the point. Most of the stupid threads are started on impulse right after the game, especially after a bad loss, such as "Fisher sucks" or "Phil can't coach". So making them wait 10 days will likely make them forget about it. It is meant to stop the casual visitors who starts threads on impulse.
For the guys that are determined to post something stupid, I don't think any rule will stop them from doing it, whether its getting to 100 post or creating 10 accounts and waiting 10 days. _________________ WELCOME TO THE LOS ANGELES BIG BALL BRAND. |

We are currently experimenting with a new feature that requires users to have at least 100 posts before they can start a new thread. After we gauge the effects of this feature we will decide whether to keep it, remove it, or change the minimum post count.
Users who pad their post count in order to get to 100 will be dealt with in the harshest manner allowable. Consider this your one and only warning not to pad your post count. |
I hope this cuts down on some of the bogus or useless threads. Thanks! |

Please increase to 5,000 minimum in the 4-hour window after a loss (maybe wins too). _________________

Can we make all the people with less than 100 posts sit at the back of the bus too? And use separate water fountains? Also, they are not invited to any LakersGround events. |

No need to redirect them if the Welcome thread is at the top of the Lounge. If it's there, not only will new people use it, but you'll have more people who have been on LG for a while go to it (which would make it better) as it will be very noticeable.
LG neighborhood is out of sight out of mind. |
