|
|
After two games against Shaq Ben and Kwame measured up as follows:
Ben = 70 minutes, 7 points, 21 rebounds,
Kwame= 59 minutes, 4 points, 12 rebounds,
Shaq vs Ben = 73 Minutes, 57 points, 14 Rebounds
Shaq vs Kwame = 66 minutes, 36 points, 27 Rebounds
Seems Kwame matches up pretty well against someone who most seem to believe is a monster defender when going up against a solid low post presence. Shaq defintely pushes Wallace around with much more ease than he's able to work with against Kwame. And it certainly seems that Kwame isn't the only one who'c offensively challenged when he has to expend so much energy defending a low post beast. Ben Wallace was a complete non factor in that Miami game today. Shaq ate him up and shat him out.... _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. Without question. I think that is Kwame's purpose on this team. Now if he could only do what he did last night on the offensive end everygame. |

I agree in all points, including the fact that anyone burdened with guarding Snaq, may be hard-pressed to contribute much scoring in addition. However, Big Ben is ALWAYS offensively challenged...hehe...
I actually see a lot of similarities in Kwame and an early Ben at the SAME age! Remember Ben had a good deal of college seasoning and still took several years to develop.
- Kwame is light years ahead of early-Ben physically.
- Ben has great hands which helps him swallow up any and every rebound. Ben looks faster too, which helps him switch and flash on the pick-and-rolls.
- Kwame's height and weight advantage should help to compensate for these in the long run. Looking at him, there's no reason Kwame shouldn't challenge as the strongest man in the NBA.
The guy's heavyweight post D is a must for any playoff team. Lets not forget that Kwame's offseason was a little uncertain. An offseason of conditioning and weights + Pete Newell's Big Man camp (with Cookie, Ronny T, Mihm and AB hopefully) + some Tri work, and we should see some big strides.
How about this?
Finesse frontline - Cookie, AB/Mihm
Power frontline - Mihm/Ronny T, Kwame _________________ "Everyone wants to be Mamba-licious." - me

Sounds good! They just have to be consistent. |

Kwame is the better man defender in the low post b/c of his base, length and height.
Wallace has a bigger impact in terms of overall team defense - he's that active athletic player you like to have anchor your D so that when guys get by your perimeter D they don't get layups. Kwame doesn't do that. |

Ya know I think that he will come along, he just needs a good kick in his butt to get him going. _________________ Panthas |

Kwame's got a hight advantage on Ben, but Ben's got a lot more consistant hustle and a better nose for the ball. Kwame's going to have to really dedicate himself to get onto Ben's level. _________________ Dumbledore closed his eyes and slowly lowered his head before Kupchak. "Teach me," he whispered. |
