Phoenix 89 LA Lakers 109
GameFlow
BoxScore
With the outcome no longer in doubt late in the 4th quarter, the fans rooted the Lakers to keep the Phoenix Suns from scoring 90 so they could win some tacos. As a result of good defense, allowing the Suns to shoot only 37% from the field, the Lakers sent the crowd home extra happy. Granted, Steve Nash and Raja Bell did not play. But the Lakers did what they were supposed to do, particularly in a game that locked them in the playoffs.
Making a statement from the start, the Lakers began the game with a 16-1 run (7-0 by Kobe Bryant). The starters played the whole 1st quarter and all contributed to the 13-point lead. The second unit kept it going with a 13-1 run to start the 2nd. Kobe had 27 points at halftime and the Lakers lead by 21.
In the 3rd quarter, the Lakers again had an early 7-0 run to get their biggest lead at 26. But the Suns wouldn't quit and went a 27-14 run that lasted most of the period. Phoenix shot 50% in the period, the only one in which they hit better than 33%. Leading by 13 again to start the 4th, the Lakers turned on the defense again, preventing any runs by the Suns.
Kobe finished with 43 points on 11-28 shots and 20-23 free throws, with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Even without a triple-double, Lamar Odom was still impressive with 14-points, 11 reoubnds, and 7 assists. Luke Walton had maybe his best game as a starter with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Smush had 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. And Kwame Brown scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The bench combined for 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Is it Jack in the Box or Taco Bell that gives out the free tacos? I really think the FDA should prevent Jack in the Box from calling those things they sell "tacos". They are nothing of the sort. At least Taco Bell's are actual tacos even though they're crap.
"How many should I get?"
"Thirty." _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

the taco meat at Jack in the Box isnt even real meat. Its soy. I understand people going crazy over tacos if they're at the game, but I could care less, because they cost like 1 dollar. |

The great thing about this promotion is that it was considered "safe" because last year, the Lakers didn't hold even one opponent to less than 90 points in a game where they scored 100 or more points. And this is like what, the 5th or 6th time they've done it this season? Nothing like a crowd of hungry fans screaming "We want tacos!" to motivate the team! _________________ I would rather have questions I cannot answer than answers I cannot question - Richard Feynman |

They definitely got their money's worth in advertising dollars today. Crowd chanting... ABC playing it up on national TV... |

Don't you get something from McDonald's with your ticket stub? I know for Kings tickets you get a free small french fry. |
