If these stats mean he sucks. i want a guy that sucks on the lakers next season. the only stat i have a problem with is a perimeter player that shoots below 80% from the Ft line. _________________ LAL4K3RS wrote: He(Kobe) is the white haired kung fu master that you realize is older than dirt but can still kick your arse when in a sitting position drinking a nice herbal tea. |

I understand why some people aren't that high on him and don't think he should go as high as he's being mocked, but I think it's pretty undeniable that he has a lot of the things you look for in a good NBA player. He's super athletic, long, has the size to play both guard positions, can defend, and can shoot the lights out. He may not end up an all-star, but I think it's pretty fair to predict he'll carve out a niche in the league and have a nice long NBA career. |

Exactly. |
Agreed.
And Rex was very hyped too coming to Charlotte.
Wound up being a very valuable 6th man but that was it.
I honestly don't see what other do in Lavine yet. |

I honestly don't see what other do in Lavine yet. | lol at rex chapman. that use to be my guy.
but i kind of agree. he could be a rex. with probably better defense, because he is more athletic then rex(and rex was kind of athletic).
rex could handle the ball but not as well as this kid. and rex was a lot shorter. he was 6'4 TOPS. this kid is 6'5 easy.
you can see the difference in their fg% if you check rex's numbers from his college days. rex played more mins put up more shots. but as a freshman he was slightly under .450 FG overall and slightly under .400 from 3pt.
lavine is at .497 fg overall and .427 from 3pt.
lavine probably due to his size, and athleticism is a more efficient scorer then rex as a freshman.
and the truth is this. people love Jcrawf. and all he can do is fill it up. He's not really a starter on a championship team. he's a great 6th man on a championship team. if thats what lavine is. GREAT.
It means he can be a 20ppg scorer for sorry team as a starter. or a quick 15ppg guy off the bench for a championship caliber team. and do it with a pretty good efficiency. _________________ LAL4K3RS wrote: He(Kobe) is the white haired kung fu master that you realize is older than dirt but can still kick your arse when in a sitting position drinking a nice herbal tea. |

LaVine is a SG, you will ruin his career if you try to mold him into a PG. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

he was a point guard in high school. but yes now he's a bonafide shoot first guy. probably always was. just shorter.
sounds familiar. sounds like 90% of the nba pg's. a bunch of SG's in a pg bodies. they can handle the ball well enough to play fake pg and they've been taught the basics of being a point. so they can dish out a few assist per game. but most of them are not what one would consider FLOOR generals. i mean westbrook has assists. but i would never call that guy a floor general.
but he sure as heck runs point. _________________ LAL4K3RS wrote: He(Kobe) is the white haired kung fu master that you realize is older than dirt but can still kick your arse when in a sitting position drinking a nice herbal tea. |

He'd be putting up better numbers if the coaches son wasn't on the team.. Such blatant favoritism is disgusting. |

Plays like he's half asleep all year then tears it up at the combine. Really Zack? ..and just when we had you written off, not so fast? |

I watched LaVine play all season with the UCLA Bruins. He had two entirely different seasons as backup off guard: pre- and post-conference play.
Early on, he shot the three at a torridly hot make rate but that cooled off hard in December and after. He had mad foot speed and real hops, but he rarely turned that into scores at the rim. He suffered many ball strips on drives, many blocked shots and crazy flings at the backboard; he couldn't finish when contested. He could get up there but no through contact.
I think he's a fine prospect but after December he didn't beat out Norman Powell, Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson for floor time at critical moments. He may have packed up his effort level sometime in February.
There was much talk from his Dad that the kid didn't get a chance to play, but he had 4th most minutes overall on that team. He's young. |

That's what I thought too in the beginning of the season, but as it went on LaVine just didn't do anything. Not a passer, has tunnel vision, and forced up some suspect shots. I was thinking he could develop into a George Hill level of point guard play with elite athleticism and a shot. But now, I don't even think he can reach Hill level of point guard play at all. Hill at least came into the league with much more experience and some point guard skills.
Alford wasn't the best coach but the younger one, Bryce, at least showed more aggression than LaVine did and more point guard skills. |

He put up big measurables at the combine, talk now that he could even end up in the lottery.
I think he is raw but much like Westbrook coming out of college, he has the raw talent and big upside. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Still concerned about strength and aggression to the hoop.
Someone likened him to a guard-version of Wiggins. The size alone, makes a huge difference.
Wiggins revealed his game when Embiid was out. Never really got to see Lavine stand out in the same way. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I don't like the Westbrook comparison because Westbrook was raw but was absolutely a monster on the defensive end and was aggressive offensive from the start.
LaVine doesn't like contact but is already more advanced offensively yet you don't see him utilize it. It says something when Westbrook had much less offensive skill had similar offensive impact in college. |

Agreed. Lavine has something Westbrook doesn't; patience offensively with the jumpshot that seems automatic.
Westbrook has everything else. Strength to go with the aggression and relentlessly attacks the basket.
With Westbrook, you can give him the ball, and he can almost be an automatic fast break on footspeed alone. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I think Levine has done so well at the combine because he's had almost a full year now to get used to all that hieght he picked up overnight. Going From a small pg to a off guard with hieght in a year and starting is pretty impressive. I think people are forgetting he was recruited as a short pg.
His upside is substantial |
