Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins and Julius Randle will go down greater NBA players out of Kentucky. Davis played a lot of minutes, but his 4.7 blocks a game and 62fg% is amazing, and is killing Towns.
D Cuz averaged 15/10 in almost the same amount of minutes as Towns and only averaged .7 less blks than Towns.
Julius Randle is a better on ball defender and offensively skilled player. Towns and Randle are the closest, but you cannot compare Towns to Davis or Cousins. Towns does not have Davis athleticism, it will be harder for him to be perimeter dominant like Davis can be. And he has no where near the post game Cousins has.
the Andrew Bynum comparisons need to stop. Bynum was a 7ft close to 300 lb monster. Bynums got 35 lbs on Towns easy.I want to say he is like Aldridge, but Aldrige is much quicker and a little bit smaller player. I guess the best comparison would be Anthony Davis, but he is no where near as good as Davis.

Andrews true height was more like 7ft 2 inches as well. He was listed as 285 coming out of high school. He actually lost some weight when he was getting in game shape, but put the weight back on after his injuries.

Kentucky players are only allowed to be compared to Kentucky players?
(TBH, I see some Javale McGee in him, but that's not a knock- I'm sure his head is on straighter, and therefore is more likely to realize his monster potential)
I do believe many on this board over hype Towns. I think Okafor is light years better, but at the end of the day, NONE OF US know squat. We just need luck.

I do like Towns' ability to defend the basket. I think it's safe to say Lakers fans would take either guy. _________________ Smrek 2, Nevitt 1, Barkley 0

Unless we land the #1 pick, I don't think the choice will be ours to begin with.

He's only taking 6 shots a game like his cohort WCS.
I'm waiting till the tournament starts before I make any definitive judgements on either Kentucky big.
Gotta see how the team plays in crunch time of a close elimination game.
As it stands now, Harrison and Booker are higher priorities in the offense than either big.
But if Coach Cal puts his faith in the bigs during Madness (and either one comes through), I could see the draft board changing quickly. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
Any big out of Kentucky must be like cousins, randle, davis or they're busts?
Towns does remind me in some ways to bynum with better agility and attitude. Noah also comes to mind, as well as potentially Al horford.
I think Al Horford is a ceiling, not guaranteed to get there though...
Look in no way am I saying they should no way draft Towns, he could be an integral piece of a championship team, but if he is taken at two, I do not see him being a second type option and to me the 2nd overall pick garners that.
I'm just saying, if you are expecting superstar, savior, I think that is super duper, very far fetched.

I would not have said this a couple weeks ago but Mudiay might have the most upside out of anyone in this draft?
Career averages predictions 14/9/2.4blks. A really good player but not no superstar caliber.
Since the word "superstar" is undefinable and subjective, I am fine with that.

Oh. If we're talking savior, yeah I don't see that for Towns in the stereotypical sense. But a noah or horford, even bynum, is a significant piece I'd be very happy with and an unrecognized type of savior. A rim protector with offensive upside is very valuable in today's game imo. And who knows, with growth and development he could exceed our expectations.
