D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson backcourt could lead Lakers for next decade
by Drew Garrison - silverscreenandroll.com

The Los Angeles Lakers doubled down on developing backcourt prospects when they selected D'Angelo Russell with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Partnering him with Jordan Clarkson gives the Lakers a young, dynamic pair to run their guard positions going forward, and general manager Mitch Kupchak gave the duo a big vote of confidence.

"Our vision would be for both of those players to play in the backcourt for the next 10-to-12 years," Kupchak said during an interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio. It's not the first time Kucphak's mentioned Clarkson and Russell being a part of the Lakers' core for the next decade, and it's definitely not the last. Considering the young backcourt has only spent just over 10-12 minutes per game together through a lone Summer League run, that's a big leap, but one the Lakers have to show they're all-in on as they foster their youth movement.

Are Roy Hibbert and Kobe Bryant a Ticking Time Bomb?
by Bryan Toporek - hardwoodparoxysm.com

It’s no secret that new Los Angeles Lakers center Roy Hibbert has struggled with the mental side of basketball for years now. The 7’2″ behemoth started seeing Indiana-based sports psychologist Chris Carr in 2008, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports. In the midst of a 37-45 season in 2011, he told reporters that he planned on meeting with his psychologist upon returning from a road trip, as “the way things have gone, it has taken a toll on me.”

Those issues appeared to reach a fever pitch within the past 18 months. Following a sizzling start to the 2013-14 season, Hibbert tapered off down the stretch, punctuated by a zero-point, zero-rebound outing in Game 5 of the top-seeded Indiana Pacers’ first-round series against the No. 8 seed Atlanta Hawks. His play fluctuated from there—he’d have another zero-point, zero-rebound outing in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Washington Wizards, only to follow it up with 28 points and nine boards in Game 2.

Heading into the 2014-15 campaign, Hibbert told USA Today‘s Candace Buckner, “I felt like I was holding myself back mentally and then I wasn’t bringing it on the court physically.” He enlisted the services of legendary Lakers center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who addressed the mental side of the game with the Georgetown product as much as the physical side.

“It’s not like he can’t be what people hope for him to be,” Abdul-Jabbar told Buckner. “It’s just that I think he had a little crisis in confidence and that seems to be what the problem was.”

Can Hibbert find himself in LA?
by Snooky Grawls - christiantoday.com

There was a time when Roy Hibbert was seen as one of the promising center in the NBA and the Indiana Pacers could ride with him through that.

But somewhere along the way, Hibbert fizzled. He slowed down and uncharacteristically failed to live up to the billing that earned him a big $58 million paycheck for four years back in 2012.

For someone who had put up numbers of 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, Hibbert did indeed show promise. But it seems that whenever a player is coming off a stellar year and re-signs for a larger contract, his performance dips. The Lakers are no stranger to this, having dealt with it in the person of Nick Young.

In the end, the Pacers planned to change their game plan and go small. Pacers president Larry Bird wanted a fast-tempo style of game and obviously Hibbert would be spending most of his time on the Pacers bench.

Hibbert did the sensible thing to do — opt in and then wait for a trade. The trade came and it was with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Trade Rumors: Keeping Nick Young, Eyeing Andre Miller

by Cheri Cheng - newseveryday.com

The Los Angeles Lakers will keep Nick Young after failing to entice other teams. Despite not finding any takers for Young, the Lakers are still planning on making some more moves this offseason and the first one will be centered around Andre Miller.

The Lakers were hoping to trade Young after performance dipped dramatically during the 2014-15 season. Even though, Young did not draw much interest, the Lakers will most likely stay on the roster for next season, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
Medina wrote:
"Lakers forward Nick Young recently met with general manager Mitch Kupchak, according to league sources familiar with the situation.

Old Kobe Bryant To Shoulder More Load For Los Angeles Lakers? Is Black Mamba Up To The Task?
by Joe Bacaron - kdramastars.com

Kobe Bryant's health next season, coming off two major injuries, is still very much in the air. However, he may need to take on a much bigger role for the Los Angeles Lakers than just mentoring the young core of rookie D'Angelo Russell, second year player Julius Randle and 46th draft pick, Jordan Clarkson.

"Part of the reason why this doesn't come up as much is almost surely because no one really knows how much Kobe has left," wrote Darius Soriano for the Lakers fansite Forum Blue and Gold.

"His last three seasons have ended via injury. When he was finally 'healthy' to start last season, he had some flashes of brilliance as a playmaker and scorer, but also saw his efficiency plummet and his effectiveness suffer for longer stretches than any other season besides his rookie campaign," he added.

Brandon Bass: ‘All I Thought About’ At LSU Was Playing For Lakers
by Ryan Ward - lakersnation.com

A lot of players in the NBA today grew up watching Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal winning championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. As a result of watching these two future Hall of Famers crush the competition, there’s a good majority of these players that have wanted to wear purple and gold at some point in their careers.

Newcomer Brandon Bass can be added to the list of players that wanted to end with the Lakers and actually made it happen this summer. Bass talked about wanting to be a Laker all throughout his college days with LSU, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times:

Agreed. He'd help Russell's passing game the same way Nash helped Clarkson.

Grading the Los Angeles Lakers' Offseason
by Kevin Ding - bleacherreport.com

The Los Angeles Lakers began the offseason on a high note after drafting point guard D'Angelo Russell second overall. After picking up a few more pieces in free agency, the Lakers will soon kick off their rebuilding season.

What grade do the Lakers deserve for their 2015 offseason?

Best And Worst Case Scenarios For Los Angeles Lakers’ 2015-16 Season
by Geoff Harvey - www.getmoresports.com

Only three NBA teams finished with fewer wins than the Los Angeles Lakers in 2014-15. While part-owner and President Jeanie Buss has said the team has a three-year window to win a championship or major changes will be made, that sort of rhetoric holds little substance for the team and its fans heading into this season. Los Angeles took a positive step in the right direction at the NBA Draft but missed out on several key free agents.

While some people are happy that the team didn’t ruin it’s financial flexibility in the future by doing something silly like maxing out Greg Monroe or Rajon Rondo, the majority of fans are disappointed that the team probably didn’t do enough to compete this season. And with Kobe Bryant aging, maybe they should have done more. At any rate, here is the best- and worst-case scenarios for the Lakers this season.

3 Challenges To Overcome At Small Forward For Kobe Bryant
by Chris Walton - hoopshabit.com

Kobe Bryant is a man of many things on the basketball court. Bryant has made a career of carving up defenses with a penchant for tough jumpers and acrobatic finishes. When the Mamba isn’t pouring in points at a silly rate, he’s showing that he’s fully capable of dropping impressive assists like a point guard.

Five championships is more than enough evidence to indicate how Bryant has elevated himself into legendary status. Like all great things though, there must come an end.

This season, the Lakers are filled with young guns that will call for Bryant to become a mentor and provide his maximum abilities yet again. Both D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson are poised to be the starting backcourt for the Lakers, which leave Bryant at the small forward position. Head coach Byron Scott has already shared plans for Bryant to spend the year as the team’s 3.

Lakers' veteran Brandon Bass is the perfect mentor for Julius Randle
by Harrison Faigen - silverscreenandroll.com

When Brandon Bass was signed, there was a worry among a large portion of fans of the Los Angeles Lakers that the 10-year veteran would do more harm than good. This would harm would not come by virtue of playing badly, but by possessing exactly the mix of talent and experience Lakers head coach Byron Scott has been shown to favor throughout his prior coaching stops in New Jersey, New Orleans, and Cleveland.

Those qualities sound good in a vacuum, but the Lakers exist in a reality where every minute Bass plays is development time not going to the Lakers' 2014 lottery pick, Julius Randle. Randle can't play all 48 minutes every game, though, and finding a good partner for him to stagger minutes with makes sense. While Scott has said that the two power forwards will compete for the starting gig in training camp, Bass sounds like he knows what his real role will be regardless of how many minutes he plays.

"I just want to be someone that can be there for [Randle] in any way I can" Bass told Serena Winters of Lakers Nation after being introduced to the media as a Laker for the first time. "Mainly leading by example and just being that person that he can call on at any time of help."

But given our luck with past their prime players who somehow are still getting it done... the moment they put on the purple and gold, they no longer can get it done. LOL!

I don't mean to discredit the work lakersfreak is doing, but not every so called news site out there is legit. This is the first I've seen this "newseveryday" link but it seems to be in the same vein as such sites as "ssnanalytics", "sportsworldreport", and "inquisitr.com". All of these sites are bogus and have fake news to attract you to their site, either for the advertising or to infect your computer with spyware.
