Is there any team that we can find that would take Swaggy?
5 million is not too much money in todays NBA salary structure.
I know he's an idiot, but he is a streaky shooter, could add some offense off the bench if that is what a team needs.
I have been trying to find guys who don't fit on other teams that we might be able to get.
K.J. McDaniels - Houston. Maybe D'Antoni would take him. KJ never gets any PT so maybe it's worth a shot. Still only 23 years old.
John Henson - Milwaukee. Salaries don't match, but he's a North Carolina guy and could help defensively. Stuck behind Monroe, Plumlee.
Alexis Ajinca - New Orleans. A 7 footer who could help off the bench.
Cody Zeller - Charlotte. Salaries match, not sure Charlotte would do it. Throw in a 2nd down the road.
Josh McRoberts - Miami. Salaries work. McBob is an energy guy.
Anybody else we MIGHT be able to land? |

Hasn't Mitch been trying to trade him since last Summer?
What has changed in a positive way for Nick since then? |

Among guys who are salary matches:
Hawes - Backup Center in Charlotte who has three other Centers. Can spread the floor but isn't very good beyond that. Better, slower version of Ryan Kelly.
Jack - Non-Guaranteed deal for a guy who tore his Achilles. Lets LA drop Nick's salary off the book (save $500k) now and gives BRK a return on an asset that is worth very little given the amount of cap room out there.
Beverly - Defensive PG who doesn't fit D'Antoni's system. Young played well under MD in LA and Nick is at least LA-familiar with Harden and Ariza.
Belinelli - Doesn't want to be in Sacramento and their new coach has a reputation of getting the most of guys who have big personalities.
Pondexter - Gentry wants to run and shoot and Pondexter has been out with a knee issue for some time. Lower salary footprint and better defender.
Frye TPE - Orlando desperately needs shooting and their best scoring guard, Fournier may get a silly offer in free agency. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

I actually think the cap will mean he's fairly easy to dump onto someone.
Frankly I would like both Swaggy and Lou to go... because that extra 12 mil takes the Lakers to another FA level. They then could easily sign 3 top quality FAs _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? If you know PM me please
I would be willing to pay you for it. |

I'd pretty much make Young a requirement of any Laker trade this summer, for instance if the Cavs lose in 4-5 games against the Warriors, maybe they consider trading Kevin Love. Possible trade example:
Kevin Love, Cleveland 1st round pick in 2017 for...
Randle, Young or
#2 pick, Young |

Phoenix has the 2016 Cleveland first round pick.
Portland has the 2018 draft pick with some protection (1 - 10).
Thus, the 2017 Cleveland first round pick is currently unavailable to be included in a trade.
Future Traded Pick Details
Quote: | 2016 first round draft pick to Phoenix
Cleveland's 2016 1st round pick to Phoenix (via Boston) [Boston-Brooklyn-Cleveland, 7/10/2014; Boston-Phoenix, 2/19/2015] |
Quote: | 2018 first round draft pick to Portland
Cleveland's 1st round pick to Portland protected for selections 1-10 in 2018 and 1-10 in 2019; if Cleveland has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Portland by 2019, then Portland will instead receive the less favorable of the L.A. Lakers' 2019 2nd round pick (via Indiana to Cleveland) and Minnesota's 2019 2nd round pick (via Cleveland); and Cleveland's 2021 2nd round pick [Cleveland-Minnesota, 6/25/2015; Indiana-L.A. Lakers, 7/9/2015; Cleveland-Indiana, 7/23/2015; Cleveland-Portland, 7/27/2015; Cleveland-Portland, 2/18/2016] |

Iggy indicated today that a trade has occurred, though the "player" is to be named later. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Nothing really out there for Swaggy no doubt. So I saw we bite the bullet and keep him around. He can't do any worse for us as a player. I'd rather have him on the team than Ryan Kelly!
I definitely think, Sacre+Kelly+Huertas+Hibbert can all be let go and hopefully we can get guys to round out the roster. |

Lakers just need to do something with Young (trade or waive). Obviously Russell and Young being on same time might create some tension/chemistry issues. I think Russell will have a break out year under Walton. Problem is Young has almost Zero trade value. Players with similar contracts that may be traded are:
Nick Young: $5.3M/2018
Jameer Nelson - Denver: $4.5M/2018
Josh McRoberts - Miami: $5.7M/2018
Alexis Ajinca - New Orleans: $5.1M/2019
Kyle Singler - Oklahoma City: $4.8M/2020
Jarrett Jack - Brooklyn: $6.3M/2017
Spencer Hawes - Charlotte: $5.7M/2018
CJ Watson - Orlando: $5M/2018
Noah Vonleh - Portland: $2.7M/2018
Carl Landry - Philadelphia: $6.5M/2017
Thabo Sefolosha - Atlanta: $4M/2017

The important thing for the Lakers (barring a trade) is the timing of waiving Young, if they choose to do so. If they need the cap room, they waive him immediately and divide the two years of his contract over 5 years (meaning for 4 years beyond this one they have 2.2 million on the books).
If, however, they don't need the extra 3 mil in cap space, they can wait until after September and then waive him. This way, all of this year's salary counts against the cap, and his last year gets spread over 3. So instead of 4 more years of 2.2, it is only 3 years of 1.8. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. If Nick is going to be a point of friction due to the Russell video, then he has to go. Send him to a city where there are lots of women he can lie to and be unfaithful with.
I am disgusted with his morals and he has to be a complete idiot to let Iggy slip through his cheating hands. He will probably end up marrying some average (but great looking) girl who will take half his money when she discovers his infidelity...! _________________ “Always remember... Nick Young has all the character you would expect from a Boston Celtic, send him there for a few shamrocks. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

I'm assuming this is a troll, as there is no way philly gives up Noel, or anything else of value for Nock Young. LA doesn't want Nick, Iggy doesn't want Nick. The only way to get rid of him is to give up a protected 2nd and him to a team who is trying to reach the salary cap floor and needs to fill salary. |
