Westbrook is a great player but he's already 28 and can't seem to elevate his team. It's not his fault per se, but I mean he scores 40 or 50+ and they still lose. Also not sure how much longer he can sustain that style of play. I know he's a freak but still.
I would stay a little more patient with DLO. I'm not opposed to trading Randle and JC but obviously that's not enough for okc. I'm just not sold on Westbrook, George or Butler in terms of ASKING PRICE.
I operate under the assumption that if we got Westbrook, we could get George in 2018 in FA. If that's the case, hard to say no. Still have Ingram, Top 3 pick (?), Zubac, Nance, etc.
Not gonna happen, though. OKC would want, and would get, more.

I love Westbrook....probably my favorite non Laker in the NBA....but I think for him to be successful in the NBA today, as far as competing for championships, a team is going to have to put the exact right offense, coach and players around him....and that is almost impossible to do. Houston has came close with how they have completely built around Harden.

Pretty much. And I agree with the poster who contends we'd have our sights set on Paul George next if we obtained Westbrook. Ain't happening though because OKC would require more.
If I were OKC I'd hang up the phone if the proposal doesn't start with the budding Ingram, and the gifted Russell.
Only if Lonzo and Paul were all but set then I'd pull this trade (adding Deng + Taj). Since its a win-now shift from our rebuild mode we'd need to shore up the center position. Relying on young Zubac with a veteran team is not ideal.

I would love to see Lavar Ball's face as Westbrook raced up and down to court leaving his son just watching the Westbrook show. He would not pass to KD sometimes, so PG-13 and Ball would not phase him.

I'd trade their choice of any two of those guys in a second. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Westbrook and Durant couldn't win a title and you're asking if Westbrook/George with a bunch of 20 year olds can?
It would set us up for years of second round exits with not much of a future with all our money tied up to those two.
Edit: For clarification I guess I would do the trade. Mainly because Clarkson and Randle have little value and that'd be a steal. We still wouldn't beven contenders.

No. Let's say we made that deal, and then Ingram and the pick for Paul George.
That would leave us with Westbrook and Paul George and a bunch of players who either aren't ready yet (Zubac) or are scrubs (Deng, Mozgov). Even Westbrook and Durant in OKC was not enough to reach the finals. Paul George is a major downgrade top 2 player as opposed to top 15) from Durant so the result would not be any better.
29 year old Westbrook would have one, maybe two years left before starting to decline. Even now, he only shoots 41.9%, and if that were to dip even somewhat lower then it would reach a point where it would not be productive to have him shooting the ball. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Good enough to compete for titles?
I have trouble imagining a team built around Westbrook contending, but I could see that team getting you into the second round or the conference finals.
