I'm still in Dodger mode right now, but I caught some of the game tonight when I was home. Quick looks like he's on a mission. And Kopitar is scoring again and Kempe has picked up the slack from Carter (who wasn't doing much even before his injury). I thought this was going to be a bad year for the Kings, but I would love to be wrong.
And once the World Series is over, my focus goes back to the Kings. Well, and the Lakers. Duh. |

Interesting. Michael Amadio has been called up to the Kings due to the center depth after Carter's injury. He's a very intriguing prospect that hopefully will get a good look for the main club. Kings have a few young players on their roster. Hopefully this is the start of a turnaround for the club. They've done really well so far to start the season. |

Holy ****! Toffoli just pulled a Derek Fisher. He scored off the faceoff with .9 seconds left on the clock in OT to win it. _________________

The players had pretty clearly grown tired of Sutter--rightly or wrongly--and you can't fire the entire team. |

Through the course of an 82 game season, I can see how Sutter's style can be weary and tiresome but in the close confines of a postseason, he's been very adept at scheming and getting our guys able to grind the opposition both physically and mentally. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I don't think there's any question that Sutter is a fantastic hockey coach. I just think the players were done with his demanding style. It once happened for Pat Riley with the Lakers, too. |

The impact of the new salary cap era in sports is very real with the Las Vegas Golden Knights hot start as exhibit A. Their expansion draft was pretty good as they got some real good talent compared to previous expansion teams. They were able to wheel and deal using their cap space to get a ton of future assets. They can become serious contenders in a very short time.
So far Rob Blake as done a great job with the contracts of core players. He's gotten them with very reasonable team and player terms. They're playing extremely well right now and if they can weather Carter's absence, they might look to be real contenders this season. |

Kings beat Ducks in OT, now 11-2-2 this season!
This team wants back into the playoffs it looks like, already opening up a nice lead in the Pacific Division. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Probably one of the best games of the season early on. It had everything... Kings crawling back down 0-2. Hard hits. 2 disallowed goals. Typical homerism from Hayward. Quick and Perry not getting along. An unlikely overtime winner. So far so good. |

Turned on the game 5 minutes late only to discover I had missed two Kings goals . . . not a bad problem to have. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Looks like the team is really starting to miss Carter now. |

Kings break a 4 game losing streak with a dominant 4-0 win over Florida.
LA Kings now 12-6-2 and still in first place in the Pacific Division despite the recent losing streak.
I am heartened that all the losses were close, the team is competing well this year. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

They're competing for the most part despite just awful officiating on goaltender interference calls this season.. If Gaborik comes back and can make an impact, him and Carter's return will help balance out the scoring lines. The rookies will eventually hit a wall. I don't want Rob Blake to give up any top draft picks for quick fixes though. If anything, they need to start figuring out a way to clear salary for Doughty's next contract. |

Blake is not Lombardi. Though I wouldn't mind doing another trade with Columbus. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Columbus is good now. They're done trading away impact players for minimal returns. |

Sadly. I wish they can suck again so we can use them as our personal grab bag. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Kings have been on a roll lately after a really rough stretch. They're integrating the return of Gaborik back into the lineup and they needed his goal scoring ability and speed in the lineup. Once they get Carter back and acclimated into game action, they can be a real threat this season. Still, the question remains, if presented with an opportunity to move some of these long-term contracts, would you? |

Gaborik had goal #400 tonight, and on that goal, Kopitar got his 500th assist. Kopitar is back to being the player he always was this year, showing that last year was an aberration as he dealt with a shoulder problem. Brown is looking more fresh than he has in years, too. And, yes, assuming that Carter gets back this season and looks like he usually does, the Kings could be contenders again.
I do wonder if their team .931 save percentage is due for some major regression, though. They are far out in front of the 2nd place club in that regard. |
