In step with what you have been saying GT. IMO, given the state of the FO , and the residual optics, this team should have had the foresight to find the right player to put them over the top and not necessarily the best player in free agency.
Dlo would have been the obvious focus given his all star talent, fit with the roster and age. This would have cost them Danny Green, McGee and KCP, which is ok on a roster currently really deep on role players.
Going into the season is unsettling with us missing that top flight guard.
^ Thanks to both of you. I'm flashing back to some of your critiques of Shaq's fit in the modern NBA back in 2016, GT, and obviously Davis doesn't have any of the defensive switchability issues chubby Shad had and possesses far superior guard skills for a big man, but I'm still concerned about maximizing his offensive equity if AD is a pass dependent non-initiator taking up a third of the Lakers' cap from 2020 onward. I've argued that AD is the absolute peak of a devalued archetype, and I would love to read thoughtful support or pushback in this thread (not to hijack it altogether, sorry).
Hey listened to one of your pods, and you said you think the Lakers are a 3rd wheel away from winning a ring. If our important role players play to a “B” grade level of their potential for the season, do you think we have a great shot? Kuz, Boogie, Bradley, Green. If the 3 questionable shooters there shoot 35% , and overall just play well , not lights out for themselves but legit good seasons... We have a good shot?
I think that’s a lot of depth. Raps were 5-6 deep, we’d be the same but with 2 superstars at the top

I do think we have a shot in those circumstances, although that's in part because it's an unusual year in that there's no Warriors, Heatles, etc. type of team.

Yeah, and to be clear this is highly speculative on my part and I don't think Vogel's the coach that's gonna bring that out, if it's even there in the first place.

Well, thankfully Jason Kidd - the architect of "Point Giannis" - is on the staff lol.
But I would love to see a vid or read your thoughts elucidating the AD/Giannis comparison when you have time. _________________ Under New Management

^Thanks GT.
I swear. Just seeing the vast difference in situational shooting between Green (high 40s) and last year's squad (low 30s) brought a tear to my eye and we'll likely have another shooter or two on the floor as well. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

Great vid!
I agree - always top notch.
Excellent look at what each of these three players bring. It'll be nice to have some legit outside threats to go along with a punishing pair in LBJ and Davis.
