But why? Green is a very nice defender but his offense leaves a lot to be desired.
DLO is a scorer, shooter, and PnR operator. Both players have flaws but Green has no upside right now. To keep AD, need more than a "we will give you a 2 year championship window" argument. |
Green is "plug and play" guy on both offense and defense, also meaning that the coaching staff don't need to spend time to understand how make him fit with Lebron and AD.
For instance, you put green in a corner and he'll deliver.
On the opposite, DeAngelo would require offensive schemes enanching his stenghts and defensive schemes hiding his weaknessess.
Also LBJ is too ball dominant to share the stage with other 2 stars, unless one of these two accept to be a luxury role player (see Bosh at MIA and Love in CLE). |
I love defense, but we are severely lacking a secondary ball handler and scoring from the guard position. Plus, what future core are we enticing LBJ with? A then 36 year old LBJ (and then Green who is a FA)? |
As I said, green is better if you are in win now mode.
With "now" meaning this year or the next one at worst,
Otherwise, I clearly prefer haveing DeAngelo over Green as well |

I just think we are arguing different sides of the coin.
I'd prefer having DLO for his ability to fill in several CURRENT needs as well as being a part of the future. But that boat sailed and I'm still very happy with Danny Green, though I hope he stops picking up early fouls and being streaky with his shooting. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Let’s assume we signed him. Who wouldn’t we have, that we currently do have? I’m happy to assume we’d have signed anyone for whom we could gone over the cap for.
Just Danny Green? |
Pretty much.
Bradley was a room exception.
Boogie was initially reported as a min. exception signing.
JAV, I think he would have returned for a non-bird increase on his minimum.
Dwight ended up being a minimum deal.
Cook made slightly more than the minimum.
AND NO KCP.
But a trio of LBJ/AD/DLO would have been more diversified offensively. Outside of AD/LBJ our offense can be a struggle. |
Good insight. Put another way, if we had known early enough that Kawhi wasn't coming, we could have had Iggy instead of KCP, plus another future 1st round pick from the Warriors. Along with Danny Green, Avery Bradley and pretty much the rest of the folks listed above. |

^ I'm happy with what we have. We're 7-2 and look good and have beaten some tough teams.
I argued all along in the summer that I wanted either an all-in (get Jimmy then if no KL), or partially all in for now/but also future with DLO.
Neither happened and KL stringed us along pretty well. But we still have a really good team but the weaknesses are starting to rear its head pretty strongly. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Caldwell-Pope makes $8 million, and Iggy makes $17 million. So we would have had $9 million less to spend on free agents, not including Caldwell-Pope. Most likely trading for Iggy would gave meant no Green, unless he was willing to play for $6 million rather than the $15 million he got. |

Green is not better for win now mode. It clearly would've been Russell. I like Green but he can be replaced for another capable spot up shooter/defender. A good shot creator does not come cheap and for good reason. At this point in LeBron's career he needs a D'Angelo Russell more than a Danny Green. And unfortunately I ultimately believe we will see this in the end. |

Why, on God's green Earth, would Myers trade Iggy here instead of Memphis? At the very least he'd tell us to kick rocks when we asked for a pick. And Memphis is less likely to dump Bradley if they didn't take on Iggy's salary.
Good chance we lose Cook and/or McGee, as well as having to renounce Caruso's cap hold. KCP wasn't expected to become Luol Deng, anyone who had that foresight must be psychic, or have a Masters in kinesiology and/or psychology.
The RE probably is spent on a lesser player than Bradley, it would be a huge risk to wait on him with a thin roster at guard, not knowing if/when he'd be let go. |

Besides LeBron trying to shoot the sun's back in the game down the stretch and him getting burnt on defense, he overall did his thing. Bad shooting night though. |

He has not look the same since Bulls game... That defensive effort took a lot out of him.

Looks tired near the end. Made some bad decisions because he just wanted a knockout blow near the end. |

LeBron could've asserted control of the game in the fourth from the free throw line. But to his credit he came back and made a huge three which quickly swung the momentum in our favor. |

45% is ok fg but FT is starting to be concerning again. |

Shaq like. Which you don't want to see from your best player. Those 0-2 trips late in the game are unacceptable, tired or not. |

AD/Kuz should be enough to beat the Warriors |

When I say bad shooting night, it was him missing free throws, throwing up a bad 3, a bad fade away 2 down the stretch. He was giving the Sun's life. He seemed like he was trying to be the hero, when empty stat Kuz had the hot hand. |

Those were certainly some poor choices at the end _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Dlo has been a one man wrecking crew lately. Warriors aren’t a good team, but don’t discount a guy like Dlo catching fire and giving us a tough time on a back to back. |

Old Mailman had even less lift than current Bron. But damn, I wish Bron had Old Karl's midrange game and FT shooting. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."
