That would be the worst decision he can make. He would be a FA with 9 years service which would gain him nothing. A 2+1 would put him at 10 years and 35% of the cap.
Plus it would run the duration of Bron’s contract should Lebron pick up his option. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant

I did the math previously and I think that the magic cap number for AD would be $90 mil. Below that cap number he would be better off extending and above that he would be better off opting out. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Yeah - selling the house was kinda a surprise when I saw it, but maybe he's just trying to pile up cash / reduce expenses, not knowing when the NBA will be back.
I wouldn't read too much into it.
PG listed his house today, and we know the season will resume at some point.
AD might be the most skilled big on both offense and defense ever, but needs to get to another level and become the best player in the league, which he has in him to do. Similar to Shaq who didn't become the unquestioned best player in the league until 2000 when he won MVP. Currently, he's a top 5 player in the league imo, and don't see that big of a gap between AD & both Giannis & Kawhi. Only glaring flaws in his game is becoming a better playmaker, better decisions when being double teamed, and get even better playing against physicality, which he got much better at in the last game against the Clippers & the 2nd half of the 2nd Bucks game. With the current unknown climate of the NBA salary cap, it's an even bigger bet AD stays as a Laker and will for a long time, especially with Rich Paul.

Giannis and Kawhi have led winning teams, something we haven’t seen from AD. He needs that alpha because he isn’t one. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

I agree about him needing an alpha, but disagree with the comparison to Kawhi and Giannis. Those two guys have also had the benefit of being able to play for coaches who specialize in wizardry lol (Pop, Bud, Nurse) and competent FO execs who know how to build a team. This is the first time in AD's career that he's been able to truly experience those things. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. I could not find one in my quick Twitter scan of the situation: Question- is there a reason AD’s date is 3 days earlier? Is that something that is specific to his contract or?
Per Shams
New player option dates for 2020 NBA free agency:
Anthony Davis: Oct. 14
Gordon Hayward: Oct. 17
DeMar DeRozan: Oct. 17
Mike Conley Jr.: Oct. 17
Andre Drummond: Oct. 17
Players shoot 8.3% worse than their average when trying to score on Anthony Davis. That ranks second in the league behind only Giannis. Just an absurd number.

Yeah, Kawhi also had the benefit of being on a team that was already fringe contenders without him. Giannis team the last few years have also been supremely talented and much more so then any team AD had. I don't really see how you can make that comparison against those 2 players yet. He clearly ramped it up and was a monster in the Playoffs last time he was there and he clearly has only gotten better since then.
I also agree about the alpha part though. Hopefully this season actually happens and we can start to get a much better idea of what he can do with a good coaching staff and elite level support around him for the first time. After those final few games before stopping the season he was a big reason (with Lebron obviously) that we were the clear best team in the League getting ready to head into that final stretch before the Playoffs.
Our old pal Larry Nance Jr making the case on twitter for AD getting DPOY.

NBA award time.. what do you guys think?
MVP- Giannis or Bron?
DPOY- AD
ROY- Ja
6MOY- Lou, Trezz, or Schroder?
MIP- Can’t go wrong with either Bam or Ingram

Why AD over Giannis or Gobert for DPOTY? I agree AD should be in the conversation, but I'm curious about your reasoning from the player's perspective to give him the edge over those other two.

Just from playing I feel like I have to be more aware of where AD is on the court compared to the others. Obviously all ridiculously good, but AD this year was a menace
I think AD had more to clean up after.. Giannis is more of a surprise defender where you lose track of him and he catches you off guard. You always know where AD is and the amount of drives, passes he discourages just by his presence is unmeasurable. Depends on what you prefer.
