He's set to make 27m-ish next year. Would take Kuz AND KCP to make it work. |
They have some pieces we can ask for in a Horford package deal considering that taking on that contract isn’t appealing, we all know Horford would look much better next year playing for a contender but we need another piece coming back. |

Subtract 15 from that 44.4 due to Lakers uniform pressure. |

Thank you.
Fwiw, at least Williams is a high IQ team defender. That would work within the margins quite well. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I'm down for a Horford trade.
I'm still more optimistic for a dynamic playmaker trade.

This.
(And either as a starter or as a big minutes - including playoffs - player)
P.S. Dude your other post about types of shooters was great reading, thank you, clarified a lot to me. |
Thank you, much appreciated! |
Same from me! Thank you for that post!
Lakers have a hard task ahead to fix shooting issue without sacrificing too much D and have to do it on a very limited budget...
Regarding players available, I would literally LOL if somehow DRose and Carmelo came to the Lakers. Next year's finals could be 2010 all stars (Lakers) vs 2020 allstars (Nets) |
The Lakers zagging by getting even older? Eh, why not give it a shot?
The second unit wouldn't have many scoring issues with those two running PnPs. _________________ Under New Management |

A little more realistic:
1) Draft SG Quentin Grimes (Houston) with the #22 overall pick in the NBA Draft
2) F/C Motrezl Harrell declines his 2021-22 player option
3) Waive F Alfonzo MKinnie
4) Re-sign (and execute a sign and trade) with PG Dennis Schroder and F Kyle Kuzma to the Toronto Raptors for PG Kyle Lowry and F/C Chris Boucher
5) Re-sign PG Alex Caruso (Bird)
6) Re-sign SG Talen-Horton Tucker (Early Bird)
7) Sign G/F Reggie Bullock to a 2-year contract (MLE)
8) Sign F George Niang to a 1-year contract (cap space/MLE low split)
9) Re-sign F Markieff Morris to a 1-year contract (minimum)
10) Re-sign F/G Wesley Matthews to a 1-year contract (minimum)
11) Bring back C Dwight Howard on a 1-year contract (minimum)
PF Anthony Davis (C)
SF LeBron James (2.3 3PG/36.5%)
C Dwight Howard
SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (1.8 3PG/ 40.1%)
PG Kyle Lowry (2.8/39.6%)
PF George Niang (1.7/42.5%)
SF Reggie Bullock (2.5/41%)
C Chris Boucher (1.5/38.3)
SG Talen Horton-Tucker
PG Alex Caruso (0.9/40.1%)
F/G Wesley Matthews (career 2/37.9%)
F Markieff Morris
C Marc Gasol
G Quentin Grimes
Wouldn't be easy, but something like this would be ideal.
Not positive, but I think the financials would work. Pretty sure we are going to be in GS and Brook cap luxury tax territory.
Drummond walks of course for more dough than we can offer

Several. But now it's settling for guys like Brogdon, instead of a really high IQ guy like CP3. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Damn , my pipe dream would be Beal demanding the Wizards trade me to the Lakers . THT, 2026 pick , this year pick, KCP, Kuz (I wish he played like a regular season in the playoff). Wizards can definitely get better deal than that package but Beal has the leverage with his option. |

True, but Booker and Ayton are no LeBron or AD. The Suns needed higher end talent and veteran leadership.
And CP3's contract/player option/age were prohibitive for most teams last summer. Wall and Walker look broken down. Bledsoe could bounce back on a good team but he's not a playoff player. Brogdon, Beal, and McCollum will start bidding wars the Lakers can't win. Rubio...?
Horford may be one of the few guys the Lakers can get with their handful of assets because most teams probably view him as a negative given his age and contract. Like, I wouldn't trade KCP for Horford. But Kuzma and Harrell? Sign me up! _________________ Under New Management |

Malik Beasley is another guy I would support trading for.
Minny doesn't need him since they are hoarding guards up there.
Maybe a 3 way trade with Kuzma heading out? _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

With hindsight, we definitely should have given up KCP, Kuz and Green for CP3. Would have been a total game changer and would have carried a lighter load from AD and Lebron. _________________ Lakers Offseason Goal:
- Draft Zach Edey (or Kel'el Ware)
- Sign Jonas Valanciunas or Nicolas Claxton
- sign and trade DLO to not lose value
- sign a coach that’s not an idiot
Call it an offseason |

it was hard because Green made 15. KCP was Free Agent and kuzma was barely making 3m |

I was the 1 who bought up Malik Beasley recently..the risk in trading for him is that he needs to get his head on straight. |
