Westbrook is off to his worse start since he was a young player. Yet despite that he's averaging 19/9/9/1.5. He's still a star right now. He may not be a superstar but he's absolutely a star.
The guy was a league MVP a few seasons ago. Top 75 of all time. 9 time All-NBA. Led the league in assist 3 of the past four years. Also led the league in scoring twice. He has flaws, but give the man his due. |
Yes he is paid 44M, you have to use him.
With his current limited skill set, if he was just starting in this league.
No one gonna give him unlimited leash like what he got in OKC.
Harden would have start over him, he would be sixth man at best, and he would never be considered as someone to build a team around.
Things would change.
Watch westbrick after this contract end.
No team gonna pay him a lot of money, and allow him to be the super high usage rate player with low efficiency. |

Hes gonna be a 34.5 year old 6-3 PG, that relies on athleticism as his main strenght, coming off year 15 in the NBA at the time his current contract runs out. It would be madness if anyone offered him a high contract and made him their franchise cornerstone. Now if he was in his 20s, thats a different story altogether _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82

Russ is a big reason why the Lakers have a winning record with Lebron out. Only criticism I have is I wish he would pass the ball instead of trying to be like Kobe with the buzzer beaters. I don't even remember the last time he hit a game winner.
Once Lebron returns, Russ should play PG for the first 45 mins and let Lebron take over the final 3 mins and be taken out for a shooter. That would eliminate Russ' tendency to play hero-ball and brick so many shots. |

With Lebron out and all our injuries, can you imagine if we didn't have Westbrook and just had to rely on AD? Sheeeeesh.... it would look ugly. |

For all his flaws, Westbrook is still a starting caliber PG who will win you some games. Can’t say that for last year’s “I want to start” PG who failed miserably at the added responsibility.
At least Russ has some credentials to his name. |

Why are we mentioning his age? even at 35 russ is a top athlete in this league. He has 3-5 more years of that.
He is not your regular guy. |

I disagree. Our record would be better with this exact same team without Westbrook |

I don’t think so, Westbrook brings a gravity that only AD (among active players) can match. Teams still have to game plan for him. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

i am generally curious to see how WB would do with Trez. Trez was balling before he came and he is balling now. the only difference was last season which we didn't have a good PG to feed him. Lebron was out for a period of time. |

we can still sign AB/MELO/Dwight without WB. Last year team with Melo/AM/Dwight will do much better than this year's team.

I am not saying he is just not getting long term contract.
He is not gonna get even good 1 or 2 years deals.
Opposite Like what Chris Paul been getting. Teams might throw MLE at him.
And at that time, I don’t see his athleticism fall off a lot.
It is just team all know he is a negative factor |

Yet in each of the last three seasons, teams were ready to move players and pay him his massive contract? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. |

Yeah, we might have a losing record against cupcake teams without Lebron, thank God for Westbrook’s leadersh…oh wait. We DO have a losing record without Lebron, even with a cupcake schedule. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

Definitely taking last year's team. AC/KCP/Kuz/Trez >>> any roleplayer on this year's team. Guys like Dwight, Melo, Bradley could have been signed for the minimum too. Lakers went 12-15 last year without Bron and many of those games were without AD. They are 3-4 this season with Bron out and AD/Westbrook in against a cupcake schedule. |

Look at his efficiency.
It is complete garbage.
Even in his prime. It wasn’t pretty.
Stop thinking omg triple double, 30 ppg, he has to be good no matter what.
If he wasn’t given unlimited opportunity. He would become a low efficiency player.
He doesn’t bring the things that this era of basketball needs the most.
With his level of shooting and low bbiq especially on the defensive side.
He would be benched before jacking up a billions shots to get to his mvp lvl. |

I donno why anyone thought this would work.
Why do we think Westbrick can change after 10+ season.
Wtf???
Pelinka is a complete idiot for only listening to Lebron and AD on how to be a GM.
The dude is clueless on talents. |

Westbrook's game does not translate to loss of athleticism. He used to dunk over people now the rim is blocking his dunks. He makes BAD decisions, cannot shoot and is a turnover machine. He used to makeup for that, but now he has lost some explosiveness. Even better you are paying him 44M a year? I cannot believe that he has been traded for 3 times since OKC gave him super max money. Last night he should have never re-entered the game, that is when the game was lost.
The Houston fiasco should have been enough to know you don't trade for Westbrook. I don't understand when the evidence is so overwhelming that he won't fit and you still trade for him. Reminds me of the D'Antoni coaching hire when you had Kobe, Metta, Paul & Dwight in your starting lineup. |
