Yeah, the more I look into him the more I like the signing all things considered with how much other players are getting thus far in Free Agency.
He dipped to 31% but that was mostly because he was awful to start the year and besides those first two months he was about at his average from the previous 3 years for the rest of the Season.
I also read he has had brilliant stretches like a 6 game stretch where he was shooting 38% from 3 and 60% overall while averaging 20ppg. Also, in that Duncan article I liked this quote..
Quote: | Walker is a devastating transition weapon. He doesn't run — he glides. And he doesn't jump — he opts to activate his jetpack instead. He's generated a preposterous 1.46 points per possession in transition over his last six games, per the good folks at InStat.
At different points of his career, we've seen transition brilliance. A silky spot-up jumper. Unique passing flashes. Aggressive drives. A slick-enough handle to get into an array of pull-ups or stepbacks. Very, very, very rarely have seen Walker put these things together, but he's on a bit of a run right now.
|
I would have loved to grab a 3&d wing with great length who's also an elite 3 point shooter and not old asf but those players are huge commodities and we don't have the money in free agency or the pieces to likely trade for one. It's all good to dream and hope for the best but we also have to be a little realistic as well. |

LW4 is only 23 and has time to grow. They got young, hungry and athletic guys and a center who will be be our best center since the 2019-20 season. Lakers last year went with the fancy 3 point shooting corpses and veteran savvy name guys who all could not move and got run out of the gym every night.
Ham is being lauded as a buy in-play hard and developmental coach. I’d surmise the Lakers are going to play much harder next year and their games will be more competitive as opposed to last year when most of their games were unwatchable. |
100. Other than raptors game and gsw the most fun was the end of season when we only played our young guys. A whole season like that will be refreshing _________________ Kobe.

Some good clips. Wonder if Lakers are targeting him in fast break and slashing |

I don't mind this signing but question the fit.
Not sure how he fits in with WB and THT considering none of them can shoot. Is he going to take minutes away from Nunn, Reaves? Rob continues to sign all these small guards, you'd think he would have learned from last year's failures. Hopefully a trade is on the horizon |

Bad analytics on offense and defense, Westbrook bad. Hope he surprises everyone with a good year and improvement. I think our min deals were much better? |

Trash signing... trash FO
You have THT at 10M who is supposed to be your SG off the bench and you sign this guy when we have no SF?
You have Reeves and you get this guy? |

That's assuming THT is on the roster to start the season. I'm guessing he gets moved before then. He and Nunn are their most movable pieces. |

The LA Lakers Franchise has become a "Launching-Pad" for Klutch Sports Group Clients... I don't know what to think about that, but I guess it's Networking at its best. We are younger and more athletic overall, if that will amount to anything is a different question. |

Don’t understand why not a lot of lakers fan are more excited. LW is a player we have never had since Kobe. He has a quick first step that put the Def in alert. He for one is unique, and a great replacement for monk. Wish Monk took our money, but losing him and getting LW is a nice bounce back for the Lakers. All this hate about a 3 and D wing we should have signed, but have not seen a player that got signed that was willing to get the money we can offer. |

I mean first step, blow by. Stupid response. Can I tell me the last player we had that can blow by his defender if he really want to. |

Not sure how you have him, Russ, THT in the rotation. Probably a Kyrie trade in mind, or else this one is a bit of a head scratcher. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I think they view him as a Monk replacement, similar role similar minutes. (Rightly or wrongly) |

I think Monk is a much more dependable 3 point shooter. Just seems like a signing that assumes no Russ/THT on the team. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yeah, Walker is a poor man's Monk and is pure off-ball though (like Monk), while Westbrook/THT have initiated. |

He does look more physically imposing than Monk. Legit fast break type of player too. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yeah he seems like a good fit for the Ham offense and for Lebron as a playmaker. On defense, he has elite length but poor instincts and reads. Still, Kuzma was a bad defender until the bubble. Maybe this developmental staff can shore up that end enough. I'm feeling better about this pickup a little. |

And by the time Handy is able to elevate his game in any meaningful way, he'll be on to his next team. Fantastic. |

I don’t like this signing because I would prefer to split the MLE to a taller wing (Otto Porter) and a stretch 5. Walker is very redundant on a team with RW, THT, Reaves, Nunn who supposed would receive significant minutes next season. But this is based on the hypothesis that no trade goes through |
