Should LG adopt an age restriction, or at least an age limited section? |
Yes, the immaturity and impatience makes the forum difficult/frustrating to navigate |

Perhaps, or at least an independent section that requires age verification. |

I'm completely with you, man.
I have a reaaally weird feeling a lot of the Kobe fanatics are 14 year old pre-pubescent kids looking for an argument when someone has something negative to say about Kobe, even if that person is a bigger Kobe fan than him..
An age restriction is useless, however. There's no way to fully implement, nor is it really fair. It's an online forum, and it's not like it's X-Rated over here, everyone should be able to voice their opinions.
I just wish people would stop looking to fight with one another, and stop the silly threads pointing individual blame on EVERY player, EVERY game, EVERY time. It's really getting old, FAST.
It seems Laker boards are the only ones like that. |

i think we should have a spam restriction for threads like this. if you cant post something worthwhile, then dont post at all. _________________ -Most people learn by saying mother, numb, horse, angry... I learned mine by saying Lakers, add gas. - HRD. |

maturity comes with age. the threads lately have been mostly childish and immature. an age restriction probably eliminates some of that immature element. you'd probably see a cut-down on a lot of the reactionary thinking and complainging without analysis. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

There are plenty of adults that act idiotic, so I doubt it makes a difference. Just listen to some sports radio and tell me restricting the sites to adults would make a difference. The only benefit to some might be dropping the swear filter and allowing R rated image posts, but I personally don't find that to be a positive for a message board.
The reality is that LG is one of the highest volume, if not highest volume Lakers site around. The good part of that is that you get to hear an extremely wide variety of opinion, and almost any Lakers news will find it's way here within minutes. The bad part is that the high volume comes with a high volume of idiots and trouble makers. The idiots and trouble makers tend to stick out, so it may seem like the site is overwhelmed by them at times. Just learn to gloss over idiotic posts and not let yourself get suckered into a shouting match.
The alternative to this is a highly controlled board where Mods simply decide what can happen and what can't happen with an iron fist. While more stable, it also tends to turn into an insular boy's club where one arbitrary way of behavior is allowed regardless of logic. There are enough boards out there with varying atmospheres, that just about anyone can find a small board that fits their personal tastes. |

Also... is it even possible to restrict the site by age? How hard is it for some kid to click the "yes" button on the age confirmation. All you'll be doing is blocking honest kids, or kids on age restricted computers. |

It can be annoying when a lot of kids post here, but I wouldn't support an age restriction because of that. |

I think some of the teenagers who post on here are serious and thoughtful about what they post.
I think some of the people in their 20's and 30's are bullies and reactionaries who parrot catch phrases they hear on sports talk radio.
And some of the people in their 40's and 50's and beyond are more in love with the Lakers of their own youth than the Lakers of today.
Then again, I really don't know the actual ages of most of the people who post here. I've only met a few.
So I could be completely wrong about all of that. _________________ I would rather have questions I cannot answer than answers I cannot question - Richard Feynman |

Where do you draw the line/age restriction? 17? 19? 21? 23? |

Perhaps a "playground" forum would help.
Restrictions won't happen folks. Discrimination on any account is pretty much out to the betterment of us all, imo, even when it annoys sometimes.

I would say maturity comes from life experiences. Some people are forced to grow up faster than others and some in fact never grow up. |

Yup. There have been young posters willing to learn who are respectful.
And there are older people who simply aren't. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Maybe LG can design a simple IQ test when people sign up for LG? That way, we can filter out the dumb-dumbs?
Oops....looks like I'll have to find a new Lakers' message board now. _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.
