Well, I had a plane flight while this one was going on. So someone else going to have to step up.
Just looking at the stat sheet that lack of turnovers. Wow. |

Im sure someone will step up with the proper write up, but I’ll mention that tonight seemed like it was the blueprint for what the Lakers hoped for when they traded for Russ.
Davis playing the part of primary star, Russ taking some of the playmaking responsibilities off LeBron’s play for stretches of the game, leaving LeBron ready to step up in the two-man game with Davis to close. I don’t know that it’s sustainable givin all the holes, but you can see the idea. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

Helluva win.
Back and forth game the lakera took some control of midway, take an 8 point halftime lead, to watch the bucks chip slowly away at it and take a 2 point lead with about 4 minutes to go. AD was huge, scoring pretty much at will, and lbj was lbj. Rest of team was overall doing fine, turnovers kept to a minimum.
But bucks now had a 2 point lead after 2 massive momentum crowd pleasing blocks vs the lakers over a 2-3 minute span. AD would hit a 3. So would LBJ. Lakers grabbed lead again.
I dont think any of us felt comfy up 3 with under 2 minutes and bucks going down the floor. Middleton fumbled a pass, and russ leaped after it, all out, pushing the ball back towards the bucks end of the court. Lbj grabbed the ball blitzed towards the bucks hoop- would they get another block? Nope. He dished to AD to his side. Slam dunk. Took air out of the building.
Both teams played very well. Lakers just better. My only critique is ham needs to rethink closing lineups in close games. He left russ in with under 20 seconds who predictably was fouled…and missed both fts.
But will take the w. 133-129.

Turned off the game when the Lakers were up in the 3rd Q - didn't want to jinx them. Great win. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

We’d be 12-11 without the Pacers and the Portland losses, it just shows you how close we are to bring good. It is a new team with a new coach, so it usually takes some time for them to jell, and they have done exactly that. I felt like we were in all the games with the exception of the 2 red hot Jazz games. |

The Lakers took care of business on Friday, beating the Bucks 133-129 in what pretty easily qualifies as their best win of this young season. Led by a season-high 43 points from Anthony Davis, 28 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds from LeBron James and 15 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds from Russell Westbrook, Los Angeles outdueled Milwaukee on national TV and started their road trip off right.
The game started even and balanced, with marginal differences in rebounds, shooting percentage and score differential between both teams. After one, the Lakers had the edge, 33-31. Davis started the game off by taking the challenge vs. Giannis Antetokonmpo head-on, scoring 13 points in just nine minutes of play. The Lakers matched speed with the Bucks and applied pressure every time they had a burst of production, with lots of double-teaming Giannis and great half-court defense to start the game.
The second quarter was the Westbrook show. He was the spark plug of the offense energizing the team. On a night when LeBron needed (and got) nine assists to pass Magic Johnson for sixth all-time in helpers, Russ led the team with eight assists at the half.
When Russ exited and took a rest at the seven-minute mark, AD returned to the floor, and it was the Lakers that looked like title contenders. They went on a 13-0 run and took the life out of the crowd while Giannis watched from the bench.
Bucks head coach and Darvin Ham’s former boss, Mike Budenholzer, finally brought Giannis back in during the final minute of the half and his impact was felt immediately. He drove to the basket and made a layup; then Bobby Portis hit a three thanks to a Giannis assist. The Bucks were down by as many as 14 but cut the lead to eight. Still, the Lakers were right where they wanted to be, up at the half on the road, scoring 66 points (the most the Bucks have given up in a half all season).
To start the second half, the Bucks shot lights out from deep. They hit five 3-pointers and took the lead 79-77 at the seven-minute mark. Desperately needing a response, Lonnie Walkers IV stepped up. He scored five of his 14 in the quarter, including an exclamation point dunk to kill Milwaukee’s momentum and keep the Bucks at bay.
Up by four entering the fourth, the game was up for grabs. Early in the quarter, James suffered another injury to his ankle when the returning Khris Middleton landed on his leg. With it being just a one-possession game, James opted to stay in, tie his shoe tighter and just keep playing. James stayed aggressive while looking for open teammates. He only needed two assists in the fourth to pass Magic and he did just that when he assisted AD on a three with just under nine minutes left in the game.
Then Giannis reminded people why he is an MVP-caliber player. He blocked a James layup, an AD dunk attempt and slammed it home to even the game up with six minutes left. The closing minutes were as close as you get to playoff energy during the regular season.
Both teams exchanged baskets while the Lakers relied on the trio of Bron, Russ and AD to lead the way. Tonight, it was the Lakers who won the battle with crucial baskets from LeBron and a late rebound from AD. The deciding play of the night involved all three, with Russ hustling for a loose ball, James picking it up and AD finishing with a dunk to secure the win. The Lakers improved to 9-12 on the season, gutting out a much-needed victory against an NBA Finals favorite to start their long road trip.
Key Takeaways
Anthony Davis is good at basketball. It wasn’t just his season-high 43 points. It was his aggression in the fourth, his willingness to shoot the three (and actually making them, going 2-3 from deep), and his rebounding that led to this victory. The Lakers have expressed that they need more time to judge this group. Performances like tonight make the case that there may just be a good team in here.

You're allowed a break DB! It was a great game down the stretch with a few lead changes. It was iconic to see WB/LBJ/AD team up on what ended up being the winning play. _________________ “When it looks as if it is a realistic possibility, I want to focus on winning a ship like it’s a goal that can’t be denied. Going back into my DVR, to rewind and watch over and over, to see different players reactions at different times... is what I used to do all the time. Haven't had the desire to do that these past few yrs. As I post this, the game is playing again in the background. I've watched that Westbrook dive 8 times now. LOL! Feels like the good ol' days again. |

I think about that Matt Ryan three point for overtime game, and I don't feel so bad. Shouldn't have won that game. We gave that game back with that Indiana lost. |

The troubling subtext of last night's win is that we shot 53.6% from the field, shot 42.3% from three, turned the ball over only four times, outrebounded the Bucks, had more assists and free throws, . . . and just barely won. If we could play like that on a regular basis, we'd be a playoff team and possibly even a dark horse contender. But who really thinks that we could do that? _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

The highlighted play where Russ dived for the ball for LBJ to pick up (then jumped over a Bucks player) to go for a dunk (to prompt a challenge from Giannis) where LBJ gave the ball to AD for a dunk exhibited what Ham has been begging for from this team. In addition, AD “getting” (as oppose to waiting for the ball) was a welcome breath of fresh air that displayed the players’ commitment to what Ham wants from this team |

I haven't watched them enough to say, but they seemed to play well last night. Our defense didn't look that good at times, but that part of that was due to some excellent execution by the Bucks. On offense, the Bucks were just giving us some shots, and we were making them. I am thinking specifically of a couple threes by Davis and a couple by Lebron. I think Coach Bud would say "We'll live with that if he makes it." And they did. But it was the turnovers that jumped out at me. We average 14.5, which is about league average, but we had only 4 last night.
I guess this game is a reminder that we're pretty tough when Lebron and Davis play at an elite level and the other players do their jobs. Ham is getting the job done with this flawed roster. But we just about need to pitch a perfect game to hang with a genuine contender. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

sounds like a good argument for flipping those FRPs for a more balanced roster, if our ceiling is as high as last night. This team just need to get into the playoff
Btw, feels like our 3pt shootings been ok for couple weeks |

They are the best defense in the NBA and we score 133 pts, 70 of them in the paint! They made 17 3 pointers their superstar scored 40 pts. and they were in their homecourt. Very few teams if any can overcome that. |
