What is there to wait for? You almost have 50 games to see what this team needs. With Rui trade there's no use to let Russ expire. Need salaries in return with bird rights.

@levon: we know Bamba is a 10.3m nonguaranteed deal next year. We can even negotiate a pushback on his deal getting guaranteed (as of now it’s June 29th).
We have no idea what Rui will cost us? I highly doubt it’s going to be significantly cheaper than 10m tho.
Obviously TB is cheaper that Bamba now, but again we don’t know what type of bag he’s looking for next season and nonbird on him most likely has us turning to one of our exceptions in retaining him. If it’s the 4.5m BAE great, but we don’t know if he’s looking for more. And 17 mins per for Bamba shows me we need to see him more on the floor to really assess his worth. But I’m certain he’s never played with a guy like AD on defense before. His numbers and defensive impact would only go up imho. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

You especially go after Mo Bamba because if he succeeds here, we will have his bird rights and currently on a team friendly deal.
We won’t have Thomas Bryant’s bird rights after this season. So no guarantees we will be able to even bring him back.
And again, the fit for Mo Bamba here is just WAY too good to past up. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

In his defense, that’s probably the first trade idea of his that actually doesn’t make me cringe. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

I'd like to take a flyer on Bamba too, but the 15-20 min he's gonna play every game is not gonna make our defense a monster lol. Think back to how much Dwight and Javale played in the bubble playoffs... exactly. |

Age ain’t nothing but a number, but in this case it’s everything!
Also McGee is a known asthmatic. He’s good for a high motor but in short bursts.
Plus another number to consider is 39% on nearly 3 attempts from the arc.
Bamba could help open up the paint for AD to operate from the block. Them other dudes couldn’t do that for us in the playoffs when we had to run more half court sets.
I want a player like Myles 1st, but Mo is a great contingency if Indy doesn’t want to play ball. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Mamba is now getting paid 10m and 10m next year. He couldn't best bol bol for backup center spot
We really need him? |

That’s like being mad about the Rui because he couldn’t beat Kuzma for the starting spot.
Some players need a change, and teams like the Wizards and Magic aren’t exactly known for developing players right. Plus it’s sorta tradition for the Magic to be the Lakers farm team. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

Except is not optimal to have a big slow Center to space the flloor for AD because at the other end he's gonna get killed on switches. that's why a guy like Markief was so valuable, and hopefully Rui can star in that role. |

I'd rather do Bev + Lonnie + 1 first and whatever sweetener for Turner should his extension negotiations fall apart than tie up cap room like that for another project. |

Pacers ain’t trading Turner to the Lakers for 1 frp. They would ask for 2. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

Okay, and they wouldn't get it and would risk losing Turner for nothing. Sounds like a prudent move for them. |

The reason McGee or Dwight couldn’t stay on the floor during the postseason is cause the Lakers couldn’t run an offense where those dudes were not scoring threats and clogging the lanes. On the defensive end, they were able to play since AD was playing the 4, but on the offensive side, AD was playing the 5 role and the paint got jammed up because of it.
With center options that have the ability to stretch the floor in offense, AD could still play the 5 role from the block in offense and then go down to the other end and be a beast on the perimeter on defense.
That’s what this whole thought process is all about. Getting a defensive center that still allows AD to maneuver offensively on the other end.
Quote: |
“It was a little different because I was able to roam a lot. I was playing the 4 then, JaVale was playing the 5 and Dwight [Howard] was playing the 5, so guarding the perimeter and knowing I got them guys behind me or weak-side helps, getting blocks on the weak side. Now when I’m at the 5, I’m the one in action – pick-and-rolls, one guarding the post, things like that. We were flying around, we were really good defensively. We’re really good defensively this year as well. I think roles just changed a little bit as far as me as far as positions. In ’19-20 I was a roamer where I can be on whoever the 4 is and roam around and help protect everyone. It’s tough for me to do that when I’m guarding the 5.”

Geez. He had a knee sprain and an elbow sprain? What a weird combo.
Pacers, just give up man. I know he might come back soon, but just tank like you're meant to. And give Myles to Portland. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!! |
