Locks and/or my wish list:
AD/Bamba
LeBron/Rui
Vanderbilt/TBJ
Reaves/Beasley/Christie
DLO/
We'll have the MLE which might goto TBJ (or a part of it).
-I think we choose TBJ over Dennis if it comes down to it.
-Can't see us retaining Walker because of money, possible we might S&T him? is it even possible?
-I'd take Gabriel on a minimum if he wanted.
-Can't see us taking on Reed again.
-I also don't see us keeping our pick.
We really need a minimum level ball handler/playmaker beyond Dlo and LBJ who are fairly injury prone at this point.
With that said, anyone foreseeable we might want to target? |

We might be able to keep Schroder depending on how much we resign DLO/Rui/Beasley/Bamba for. If we can resign 3 of them for less. We can possibly keep Schro.
DLO - $28m (-$3m)
Beasley - $12m (-$4m)
Rui - QO $8m (+$2m)
Bamba - $6m (-$4m)
Schro - MLE
TBJ - BAE
Gabriel - Vet
Walker/Reed - Goners
23 1st - Depending on DLO situation. Possibly sign and traded. |

I think it's too early to say. How we finish out the year, and how players do is we finish out the year, may influence the Lakers decisions.
I expect lebron, AD, vanderbilt, Christie, and Russell to be here. Anyone else could become victims of salary limits or bigger offers from other teams. |

Discussed in Vasashi’s thread. They aren’t paying repeater tax to keep a play-in team together. |

Since the trade this does not look like a play-in team. They will judge this team base on the moves since the trade deadline. Not for the the whole season. |

Bron misses a ton of games. Ad has so far and dlo is bound to get dinged.
Imho there will never be a whole season. This year is the window. No elite teams. Everyone has struggles out west or is unproven. Got to blow it up next year. _________________ Kobe.

They didn't make all those trades and give up all those picks just to blow it up man... Get real! |

I tend to agree with you. What this team did before the trade deadline, with a bunch of guys who are no longer here, isn't particularly relative to judging the team in the present and in the future. Any analysis and opinions about the Lakers plans, which were written before the trade deadline, may very well be moot right now, because everything has changed.
And as of today the Lakers are only two games away from the number five spot. So who the heck knows where we will be by the end of the regular season.
We can all make guesses about what salary limits the Lakers might have next year and how much tax they're willing to pay, but those are just guesses.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Lakers don't have any numbers written in stone at this point. How the team finishes out the year may have a big impact on how much they're willing to spend.
I think we're watching a play who's ending isn't written yet. And anyone who thinks they know the ending is just kidding themselves |

I don’t really care if Rui, Bamba or Beasley return. I won’t complain if they do or cry if they don’t. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Lakers are a 4th seed after the ASB - that's without LeBron and D'Lo. Get some perspective. |

Not really about that... Those guys are plus assets. You just don't let them walk. It be hard to replace them with no capspace. |

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/los-angeles-lakers/cap/2023/
Lakers guaranteed salaries
Lebron 47 million
Anthony 41 million
Jarred 7 million
Max 2 million
Lottery pick 3 million
Total salary 100 million
Can keep cap holds on all restricted free agents and avoid repeater tax.
That means BYE Dangelo, Malik and Mo.
I have perspective. I’m telling you they aren’t paying $350 million next year. |

The only restricted free agent we have is Rui and Reaves. All our other free agent guys are unrestricted. Their cap holds don't matter in terms of the luxury tax. What matters is what salary they ultimately get.
I think DLo will be back. In fact, I think that's pretty close to a given. The real question is how much he will get (which will likely be below his cap hold.) It wouldn't shock me to see Bamba and Malik gone. It also went in shock me to see Malik return at a lower salary than he is receiving currently.

If it came down to it, I'd rather keep Schroder over Troy Brown Jr. Brown has been shooting well lately, but I don't know if he can count on him to continue that, and I'm not impressed with his defense.
Schroder is inconsistent with his shooting efficiency, but he plays some in your face defense on opposing ball handlers, and he is a very nice backup point guard and facilitator for the second unit. I love his toughness, and that's a trait we need.
Imo we must keep Schroder, Reaves and Russell. Beasley and Rui will depend on how well they play the rest of the season. Vando and Bamba are under contract for next season. |

It's pretty easy to spin the data anyway you want to make any point you want, not that the spinning will convince anyone who isn't already convinced.
The Lakers have played great since the trade deadline. But we've also had a pretty easy schedule since the trade deadline. Our last 15 games are pretty easy too.
It wouldn't shock me to see us end up being the number five seed. Of course, in the west, you barely need to be a 500 team to be the number five seed. So you can argue how meaningful that is too.
The fact that we've done all this without LeBron is impressive. The fact that no one can guess how healthy LeBron will be from this point forward is a concern. So that's something you can spin as well.
My bottom line is right now the Lakers are doing pretty much everything you can expect them to be doing at this point. So I'm enjoying that. I have no idea how they will end the season or do in the playoffs, assuming they make the playoffs. But my hope is LeBron comes back in the Lakers surprise everyone and the Lakers have to do some really hard soul searching about how much they are willing to spend.
I am sure people on this board are rooting for a wide range of outcomes, whether they want to publicly admit what outcomes they're rooting for or not. Without citing anyone specific, I suspect there are Laker fans here who are hoping the Lakers and Lebron specifically do badly, because that brings them more pleasure than the Lakers succeeding would. To each their own. It's just a game. |

I'd try to keep almost everyone, we need continuity. I would just let Reed and Walker IV go.
DLo is the big domino piece here, depending on how much (and if) we re-sign with him for, we'll know how much we can pay the other guys. Malik, as well, to a certain extend. _________________ .... |

They will almost certainly choose to pay taxes next year, repeater or not, the only question is *where* they will draw the line: 10m, 30m, 50m.
What you probably mean is that they most likely will draw the line at a lower tax-level compared to this year, especially if the team falters in the post-season, which means that they likely will not retain the more expensive free-agents because their higher salaries translate to exorbitant tax levels per the "repeater" penalty. Yes, I agree, that's quite likely. |
