There's not enough time to really develop stuff for him this season.. but.. much like Dlo.. I'd love to see what this team looks like with a full offseason together. |
That's the thing. It's not that hard to get Rui looks. Nor, should it be overly complicated. Get him the ball anywhere from the low post, to the high post, and let him cook. He can flash to his spot, duck in, dive in, come off picks or screens. All those are simple actions, that don't require rocket science to execute.
Things do get crowded in the paint, when Rui shares the floor with AD. So, if I was Ham, I would try to stagger AD and Rui, so that the Lakers always have a post threat, and don't have to rely solely on perimeter initiated offense.
Been saying for the longest that Rui needed more touches. Untapped potential. |
Definitely agree on the staggering him and AD.
I guess it should be that easy, but with so many moving parts.. maybe it's not?
Either way.. we're on same page that he's doing well.. and has even more to offer. |

His midrange game has really stabilized the offense the last few games. The Schroeder/Reaves/Rui second unit is going to be huge for the remainder of the season, I don't think many second units can compete. Just need to get Rui a few more post touches a game. |

I like his game. He’s not quick, but it is what it is. If he finishes around the rim better (or stronger) then I would have no complaints at all. He blocks shots, is a solid defender, and a good rebounder. Plus some unteachable physical gifts that makes things difficult for the opposition. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |

Rui can be a winning player. His skill set is wasted on a team like the Wizards.. his role is that of a very high impact role player on a championship team. He’s a piece of the overall puzzle.
Washington obviously drafted him to be #1 or #2 option, which he won’t be, but he’s going to make a pretty good career for himself, I think, as long as he continues to play on winning teams. |

I don't know the stats, but I believe that he's one of the most proficient mid-range shooters in the game. A three point shot is good every now and then, but Rui's specialty is the mid-range game, and the key to maximizing his skillset on the offensive end. |

Yeah, my one and only concern is that his mid-range game might not fit well with Lebron who prefers players that draw the defense out and relishes open lanes. |

He doesn’t have to play with Lebron. He can do his thing off the bench. |

It's crazy people still plan for LBJ like he's 34 years old.
At some point... could be this playoffs, or could be in three years... we will need to replace what he does.
Obviously Rui is nowhere near Ingram's talent let alone Bron's but you still need that skill set
It doesn't matter if he duplicates some of LBJ's game
Rui's had two good games... so too early to get excited about him just like it was too early to get excited about Malik's early games.
But if he provides that with any consistency then you hold onto it. |

Not sure if they’re a player who can go get a bucket when we wants outside of the top 3 better than Rui. His length gets him clean looks, and his efficiency has been going up as his comfort level increases. _________________ Darvin |

Sure that makes sense for this season but that makes his re-signing unlikely this offseason. |

Among players with at least 100 FGA from mid-range, the 5 most efficient % players are:
1. (57.1%) Kevin Durant
2. (52.4%) Rui Hachimura
3. (51.4%) Bradley Beal
4. (51.0%) Jaylen Brown
5. (50.6%) Kyrie Irving |

It's analysis on why he should be used more offensively, and why we need to keep him. He's got the makings of a VERY good player still. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

Gotta keep as many as possible!
DLO, VANDY, AR, RUI & we need the thing even though not that much from Beasley yet 3 pt shooting. Not sure we can keep Dennis? He definitely has played & proven himself this time around!

On a reserve’s salary he is worth keeping, especially since he would have a tradable contract. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Undervalued in an offense that is dead set on chucking 3s and not playing with any semblance of basketball IQ. When those legs aren't there on B2Bs, you need guys like him to light it up from the midrange. |

Not sure why you only got 17 minutes in a game where we lacked size and shotmaking. |

This kid is under utilized. You can see it tonight. He is also on a short leashed for some reason. 17 minutes is not enough even though he had a bad start. His size is needed out there. Also you have to allow him to respond and recover.
3 Shot the ball bad tonight... They all played more minutes. |

He needs minutes to be effective, he’s got great mid range game, but slower than Vandy & Brown, but he needs to REBOUND & play DEFENSE too!
Ham is basically playing time him off the roster for next year??? _________________ My Laker squad.

Ham didn’t play him off the roster. He didn’t get a rebound and he’s the biggest Laker. He’s the only Laker who was a negative double digits out there.
Ham reasoning was liklely let me start him after shooting well last night and because he stepped up vs okc. And then he started him and he crapped the bed hard those first 9 minutes. They would have won the game had he not occupied the court tonight. He was that bad.
No rebounds. No fouls to contest. He offered nothing to them. |

Rui is a solid player but solid isn’t good enough especially when you consider the expectations, this is why Washington choose Kuzma over Rui, Kuzma gives more effort on defense and rebounding, I hope he gets his act together or his Laker days will be over |
