The outrage is that the team KNEW AD is sitting out b2b, Mo is out, and LBJ who often played backup center is out. The luxury tax hit on a 10 day is negligible while losing a must-win gimme like the Rox game is consequential. This one may hurt our chances to be a 7/8 seed. |
Dangelo shot 5 of 17. Malik shot 6 of 17.
No bum on a 10 day is going to turn that into a W. |
We lost by 4 points. The Rox had 78 points in the paint.
You do the math, you're a smart one.
We had turnstiles "protecting" the rim. Even a Tony Bradley would have accounted for more rim protection even with DLO/Malik having off shooting nights. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

You’re right. It was a close game. Man, they dropped this one. .
The offense was Dennis getting free throws, not anyone on the team making shots, and the Rockets being in the penalty early. |

And that has literally nothing to do with the Rox getting 78 points in the paint b/c we had no rim protection. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yep, they scored at will around the basket, we had zero presence there. Easily preventable with a rim protector considering it wasn't exactly prime James and Irving attacking the basket we were dealing with _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82

No rim protection and we were struggling mightily to secure rebounds. Those things are how you lose games. 36 to 51 rebounds and it felt like an even wider disparity |

Exactly. Not only the -15 rebounds disadvantage, but 6'11 Jabari and 6'11 Sengun just were toying with our "bigs" on the boards. So many 50/50 balls went to the Rox simply due to their size. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Why does he even have to sit out completely? Why not just say he won't start, may not play, but will be available if needed. Playing 10-12 minutes last night would not have hurt him or the Laker team. |

We've explained it to you thoroughly. -15 rebounds, 78 points in the paint.
Having one player over 6'8, 200 pounds (Wenyen) would have impacted the game just enough to win.
But you are so predetermined with your position. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Big question here for all the "He should've played" people...
Do you think the team doesn't want to make the playoffs or something??? |

Imho what’s indefensible is our blatant disregard to roster construction.
If you going all in on a roster around AD and Bron, you put them in “position” to succeed. Whether it’s a tax thing, a coaching thing or “centered” around rostering the right players… We have not been sincere in exploiting sustainable success for our dynamic duo.
It’s been one bubble run and then bust during a 4-5 yr win-dow…Yikes!
Looking back now, I woulda just handed the keys to LeGM and got out the way. At least it led to 8 consecutive Finals runs with 2 FOs before he got to LA. And those 2 teams seemed to have rebounded just fine after he left. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

It is clear. The Laker franchise does not want to win or give us the fans reason to think that. I don't know what doctors are saying, I don't know what AD mother is saying or his uncle but I heard what he said from his own mouth. He said "I am pain free".
We as fans and them as players we follow and watch basketball to win. And if you are in this situation where you have to win every game to make the playoffs you don't use your best player for precautionary measures is absolutely disgrace. It is forcing me as a fans but I also believe many others why I even follow this (bleep) show. And with this behavior it is that. (bleep) show. |

whoever our head trainer/medical staff is an absolute MORON. if Gary Vitti allowed Kobe to play with dislocated fingers, legs, everything, then for sure he would have let AD go in and play. that was a brutal loss. _________________ Indianapolis Colts

Same kind of nonsense stuff people were spewing before the deadline deals that rebuilt the roster and turned around the season.
"They don't want to win."
Total BS.
The SIMPLEST of reasons for wanting to win? Pure greed.. playoff revenue.. and you know the Buss clan needs every $$ they can get.
It's also just... crazy. It's the kind of thing people talk themselves into when they think the Lakers are so special that the team and players don't have to conform to reality.
I don't say all this pretending the team is above criticism.. if they knew this was the plan... why don't they have another big????? It's an awful decision, imo. Bamba better be back if they make the playoffs. |

they definitely want to make the playoffs and should. it feels that they have the mindset that no matter where seeded they have the advantage which is nuts.
This is why we should hope for the clippers. Home court the whole series. IDC how new a team like the kings are. They will run us up and down the court which wont be ideal for bron or AD, same goes for grizz. We need to fight for home court at this stage. Not just make it and assume old bron and "stress" ad are going to be able to handle the rigors of the playoffs. _________________ Kobe.

I have no idea what they really think, as far as post-season matchups... but I do think if they happen to have a full, healthy roster.. they can beat anyone in the west. I'm not saying they would be favored, I'm simply saying that they'll have all the pieces in place to make a run. It's a roster that makes real sense. |

This started at the outset, a series of bad moves screwed it from the start - letting Lopez going for nothing when he wanted to sign cheap (imagine him next to AD? why in the world do you let a floor spreading 7 footer walk)
Even Randle, not his biggest fan but we let him go for nothing? Dumb.
The poor asset management continued with Caruso, etc.
We shot ourselves in the foot. |

Also why did Ham seem to get cute by starting Rui at center? Glad Wenyen eventually got the minutes but that first quarter really set the tone for the game. Is this the time to experiment? _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

Is there someone unsigned out there that could give more than Gabriel? I’m not sure who that would be. Posters here are crying for a big who can just defend and rebound but those players are under contract. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Maybe they don’t outperform Wenyen but it’s not unreasonable to believe that they would outperform the Vando/Rui platoon at center. Not saying that they’re necessarily better players out there but maybe better in that role. When you’re getting thumped by the lowly Rockets in certain situations maybe it’s worth being re-evaluated. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

Not sure why the team wouldn’t want to win though as it’s clear they have a lot of money to gain by hosting playoff games. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

The internet defaults to conspiracy think. They just messed up. Maybe they didn’t like any of the guys they worked out. Maybe they thought they could get by. It needs to be addressed though. It doesn’t mean it’s a magical cure all. Hard to believe after the events of this season though we still have fans that don’t understand the importance of having players that are slotted into their proper roles and positions. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Don’t lump Vando in with Rui. Rui was literally the heaviest guy on the team. He outweighed Wenyen and Vando both by 20 pounds but didn’t show any effort or toughness. He just didn’t have the heart to fight and compete. And his 9 minutes did them in to start the game. The guy didn’t get a rebound, he didn’t take foul or do anything. He was the -15 and he got pulled rockets up 12 with 3 mins left. Everyone but him competed out there on the glass and forcing their way to the line. If Rui even puts in average effort he would have helped set a different tone. And if Wenyen started the win that gameS
They win that game from the time Wenyen entered to the final buzzer. |

There are reasons to want Rui on your team, but they don’t include asking him to be a high energy C that gobbles up rebounds and protects the rim. It’s not what he does and it’s unfair to ask it of him. The guys they have on the team that do that job were out, and by not bringing in a temp solution they asked too many guys to do stuff they aren’t capable of doing. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |
