I agree. 5th stop by 26 and people thought he would magically change. He is a solid PG that won’t elevate you but usually won’t hurt you. Usually. _________________ Kobe.

He gave the "(bleep)" ball to AD in the post, who was doubled by the man guarding DeAngelo.
So AD gave the ball back to him with 6 sec left on the clock, and Dlo was reasonably open as the man guarding reaves was rotating to him.
I want DeAngelo taking that shot, even if he is 0-5 |
Reaves was more open than DLo. When DLo's man is helping off to double AD, it's as the saying goes, "you're open for a reason." Love DLo's game in general, but the decision making has to be better at times. DLo hasn't really proven anything to have the confidence to take that shot after going 0-5, nor has he shown the ability to shake off bad shooting late in the game (from what I've seen). He's a very streaky/rhythm-based player, and he did not have it that night (and should have recognized that). |

I wondered if there could be some players confused about winning the game vs getting their own stats for upcoming contract talks... Other than the free throws Reaves looked like the 2nd best Laker on the floor during the game and I wondered if that gets into the new guys heads.. like do we just give this mfer the ball and get out the way or what? |

If I'm understanding correctly, Russell has 64 assists to 20 turnovers in his stint as a Laker. Say what you will about his streaky shooting, but that's not bad.
I will say, I honestly feel more comfortable down the stretch with the ball in Reaves' hands, probably bc I trust his shot making more (which is crazy lol). I think Russell generally takes decent shot attempts (minus heat checks) but he's just so hot-and-cold imo.
Also, I was saying DLO's defense hasn't felt that bad to me, but these last two games I'm seeing just how bad of a point-of-attack defender DLO is. I feel like he still dies on screens like he's a rookie. Though he's probably better off guarding 2s than 1s which to his credit is what Ham has been doing. |

He had a terrific game tonight. Very efficient shooting, made some big 3s, especially the one in the corner when he was boxed in with no time left on the clock.
2 blocks too.
Love the guy, and the spirit he brings. He’s really matured into a solid PG. |

3 point shooting is necessarily high-variance. The thing about DLO imo is he's very opportunistic about getting into the paint etc. for some easier looks. So if his shot isn't falling, you can't expect him to reliably create offense in other ways, since he relies on the defense giving him openings instead of creating them himself.
But that's what makes him not a first or second option IMO, his offensive skillset is fantastic as a complementary piece. Hopefully he gets paid as such. |

D’Angelo Russell made Interesting NBA history tonight:
He passed Wayne Ellington, Dennis Scott, Russell Westbrook, Zach LaVine and Marco Belinelli on the all-time 3 PM list.
He’s now made 1,218 three pointers

i think you have to see him with Lebron. Right now he's trying to be a 1a with AD, who is also struggling from time to time without Lebron. LBJ returning would slot everyone where they belong. |

I think a lot of people forget just how difficult it is for a PG especially to come in a new situation so late in the Season and have instant chemistry across the board.. It's already getting much better as everyone is finally starting to get into there roles.
I still believe he's a great 3rd option with the possibility of being a 1st-2nd option here and there throughout the Season.
I agree with Pjiddy that the real test along with Beasley will be when Bron comes back. If he comes back healthy and looking refreshed there's nobody in the Western Conference i'd take over us personally. |

Exactly, I get why people are concerned about overpaying what is a good 3rd option, and fair enough on that point imo, but I do think fit-wise he's fantastic next to Bron and AD. Just need those two to stay healthy. |

And this is VERY important, particularly in games where keeping turnovers down is vital.
As far as what role offensively the Lakers would want D'Angelo to be.
Similar to what Wiggins was for the Warriors. Wiggins was the third offensive option with the Warriors, HOWEVER he was also capable of being the go-to guy or 2nd option if either Steph or Klay was having a bad night. Steph and Klay ate first, but Wiggins was capable enough to be the 2nd best player in the Finals when Klay was having a not so great series.
This is what you'd want for DLO. He'd obviously come 3rd offensively behind AD and LeBron(most likely), but you want him there to be able to be the 2nd option offensively on nights when LeBron or AD don't have it going and a guy that can get that momentum going for us.
This ideally is what Russell is for us. 3rd Option to the 2 Superstars, but 2nd option when they need him most. He's also our team's primary point guard which should hopefully reduce the LeBron "hold ball for 15 seconds and jack up a horrible three" possessions we'd become accustomed to. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

He's been playing fairly well, just not quite as lights out as his first couple of games back. DLO can be a little streaky shooting-wise. While I hope he comes back, for the most part, he's been a nice, steadying force playmaking and game-pace wise. That's been really great to see.
Hit some shots tonight! _________________ Austin Reaves
