Austin Reaves says he’d like to stay with the Lakers but the NBA is a business
“Anybody that says we don’t play the game for money is lying… I want to make as much money as I can and be as successful as I can no matter where it’s at.”

(Seriously tho, worth a listen in its entirety…dude’s obviously a keeper, but will we tho when that price gets steeper)
Stay humble young fella. Air out contract concerns during the summer, not now.
Reaves only 1 FT today, haters shouldn't be complaining anymore.
Says more about AC’s defense and his ability not to get baited into fouls. Reaves been eating off those type if defenders. AC built different tho.
Still Reaves may have not gotten any charity today, but we had 29 trips to the stripe to their 12. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

He has to adjust with Lebron returning and not the other way around. That's the lay of the land when a superstar returns. This means less opportunities for ball-handling or decision making, even though he's a natural at making the right reads or baiting defenders into fouling. He's a piece for the post-Lebron future, but right now his role is to play backup pg, hit open 3s and find the open man.
Let him finish the season as the 6th man. Throwing heavy minutes at him right before the playoffs is gonna take his legs from him. Give him a bigger role next year.
In the 7 games since DLo came back Reaves averaged:
20.7/3.7/5.7 and 2.1 TOson 59.7/33.3/84.1 with 9.9 ftas
In the 2 games DLo has been out Reaves has:
12/4.5/7 41%/25%/80% 2.5 ftas 4 TOs
Small sample size but yeah, DLo is a better player off the ball than Schroder who probably provides more spacing for Reaves to work with. Would make sense why he would play better with DLo. Also DLo is more of a pg than Schroder so Reaves doesn't have to facilitate as much
But that doesn't excuse his bad defense. He looked lost a few times out there and provided very little resistance. I'm used to him being much more competent of a defender, so i'll chalk this up to just having a bad game.

Can’t even blame it all on Denis. AR lineups tanked today in both the second and fourth when Denis wasn’t out there. They lost the game those two stretches. The okc game to end the third when Denis sat AR ran the lineup and they lost all the lead but a point and Denis came in and took over the ball handling and decision making.

He has to be better period.
IMO he's been very passive. I think the NBA is on to him now, last game against the Thunder they put better defenders against him, seems like they're taking him more seriously. But would like to see him attack more, all the great things he does comes off an attacking mindset, even his assists

People been slandering AC saying Reaves defense is pretty close. Its not remotely close.
I still take AR over AC if I have a choice.
Why choose when you coulda had both. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

Not sure if it’s a coincidence. But this is one of the reason I said not to start him. It’s not because he’s not good. But it was because he was in groove coming off the bench. Also it was too late in the season to keep messing with the line-up. Now Reaves looks out of wack the last couple games.
Perfect example of “Dont fix it, if its not broken.”

A part of it could simply be because teams are finally game prepping for him. One big game you can chalk it up to a role player having a great night...several in a row and other teams have to start taking him into consideration. _________________ KOBE

The guy been playing all season. But there’s more to starting. Mentality approach is different when you start. Reaves didn’t look good either during the times he started early in the season. Reaves off the bench is mostly playing against teams 2nd unit. It’s easy for a guy like him to get going that way. Not much pressure as a starter.

You'd think in a lineup next to LeBron/AD/DLO he'll have opportunities to shine again. I mean, or teams stick strong defenders on Reaves which opens up the game for DLO. We'd take that too.
