If the poison pill doesn't kick until the third year, I don't get how this would negatively affect us unless we are going to try and extend James again.
Paying Reaves 27 million for two years is better than paying DLo 25 million for four.
And if he keeps improving that 27 million would be a bargain like Murray's contract.
It's possible that the league adapts and that looks like an overpay next season.
But after I've seen him continually rise to each challenge, my money is on Austin to succeed.
Austin Reaves on his future: "I want to be here. It feels like home to be in a sense. ... But I told somebody a couple months ago that it feels like a home for me, basically. The way the fans support me. ... This is definitely somewhere I want to be, but we'll see what happens."
Reaves as I see it is a 18-20 PPG on high efficiency and good defense player. See no reason, he cant produce like the regular season Jamal Murray on better efficiency and better defense.

The Lakers are fortunate to get a healthy sample size of Austin's abilities as a bball player.
A full season and a half. He will get better.
The decision to match and retain him is a no brainer.
This should not be difficult like flash in the pan THT vs AC
Keeping THT over Caruso was one of the biggest blunders in Lakers history. THT sucked, night after night....Caruso was at least consistent and could play defense. Never understood the idiot who thought giving THT $10 mill a year was smart.

Yeah, it's a clear as day no brainer on resigning him.. It's happening 100% imo.. The only thing to slightly worry about is possible trades which I really hope he's just completely off the table.
We made a mistake letting AC go over THT but there's nobody ahead of Austin or even side by side with him that they could choose instead.
Pretty much just him and Rui you HAVE to resign imo. DLo will obviously be in heavy trade rumors going forward and unless he takes a bit of a haircut on his next contract he will be moved/let go after his consistently abysmal performance when we needed him most.. I WAS one of his biggest supporters but nahhh, he aint it if he's still looking for something crazy in free agency.
AR and Caruso would be a really good backcourt they compliment each other well. It may break the NBA to have an all white backcourt by I digress. AR proved to be a solid offensive player and now his 3 ball is coming around. Pair him with a strong defensive guard (and no that isn't Dennis). Marcus Smart is the ideal example but perhaps Max can play next to him. What impressed me is Austin's ability to run the offense. I didn't see that coming. He has grown 100 fold since he started. Great find by the scouting department.

I think AC's lack of scoring though would hurt. He's good as a bench guard for sure but I'm not eager to start him. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

The data suggests that he's the most impactful guard defender in the league. I believe the Lakers are still playing today if he was our starting PG.

And that's b/c he played 23.5mpg. You're not playing balls to the walls if you're starting and playing 32+ mpg. He would be a great 3rd guard to put in any of the guard slots. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
Heart, hustle, determination. AR adapts and fits in practically any system.

I think he knows Jimmy Carter's motto

whenever I can,
for as long as I can

I think it’s wild that Reaves will be making more money next year than the #1 pick in his class Cade Cunningham will.
The flipside is that Cunningham has already made over $20M. Reaves did his time as a minimum guy. It's time to start getting paid. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved
