Well, it’s gonna be Ham’s preference between Cam and Max. Vando (obviously), Prince (Ham’s fav) and Dinwiddie (he can run the offense) getting minutes, hope Rui continue to start _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“
There are 96 guard minutes. Reaves and Russell should get 60-65 of them. Dinwiddie another 20-25. So there are something like 5-15 spot minutes for a 2.
With Vando healthy I could see an argument for Prince there. But if not, then Prince (and double big lineups) probably eat up back the backup 3.
So I guess the question is whether Cam or Max. I like Max more but I also think he needs to be playing with our best play makers. Especially AD or LeBron as they provide playmaking as bigs. So realistically I expect to see Cam. I'm not upset because Cam at 10-15 min can be a real menace defensively with full energy.
However, I *am* worried that Cam has a good defensive game and that causes him to get minutes at DLO or AR's expense which is bad since offense exists.
Darvin Ham says Anthony Davis' early foul trouble altered the Lakers' rotations, which is part of why Max Christie didn't get any first half minutes.
He says the staff still needs to figure out how to balance getting Spencer Dinwiddie and Max minutes.
Almost at end of season.
Dumb answer.
Easy way to establish Max and Dinwiddie's minutes.
Dinwiddie is Bench 1
Max is bench 2
Dinwiddie plays when DLO and LBJ are resting.
Max plays when Rui or Reaves is resting.
Simple solutions. The reason it isn't so simple is because Ham wanted to IMMEDIATELY throw in Dinwiddie into a 3 guard lineup with DLO and Reaves, despite Dinwiddie having no clue how we run our offense.
The rotations are messed up because from Day 1, Ham gave him the wrong role and is trying to force him into it.
Make Dinwiddie the Backup 1 and stop with the 3 guard lineups till he actually understands our offense, and he'll see a lot of those 'issues' dissipate. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Max is the kind of player that once he really develops his strength he's going to start posterizing people on the regular. Whenever he drives he WANTS to dunk on them, you can tell, he just doesn't have the strength to finish over some of the stronger players. Ingram used to have that issue too.
Lakers will get him on a steal contract given how little they utilize him. Think he'll become a very solid 3&D starter -- not a needle mover per se but the kind of guy you need to fill out a championship roster (we could use 23 year old Max Christie starting with AR being our super sub, tbh). Just needs some more seasoning and time in the weight room.
Whats the most they can resign him for? Do we have his bird rights?
same arena rule situation as AR last off-season. We can offer him a mle level money for 4 yrs or match whatever offer he can command from other teams.
Hard to see him commanding an MLE level deal. He’s been spotty, at best, when he’s gotten minutes. Just isn’t consistent when he’s gotten time, his defense hasn’t been that great as people seem to shoot over him without much trouble even when he’s trying to use his length to contest, and he’s had major trouble finishing at the rim against contests, even when he’s tried to go up strong, and his decision making with the ball is questionable, at best. You can maybe blame Ham for that for not giving him consistent time if you want to be generous to Max, but Max likely just isn’t quite ready yet (and to be clear I am in the fire Ham now camp and am a big believer in Max, just not quite yet).
Last game was quite good for him, though, so hopefully it’s a sign he’s getting it and will be a good contributor to end the season, but he’s had brief stretches for us earlier too before disappearing, so who knows?

How is he supposed to get there if Ham won't play him by waving a magic wand????. He's shown more than enough potential for alot of teams to take a flyer on him. Dont be surprised if he gets a strong offer during RFA and the lakers have to match

Oh no, I didn't mean we should or are going to offer him mle $$
My bad. Just explaining what we could do. I should have said I could offer him up to mle.

Wasted nearly an entire year of his development. This kid can be a total stud role player. One of Ham’s greatest sins—and he’s committed many.
Might work in Lakers favor... Not enough production for him to land a big deal else where.
Lakers might be able to lock him on a very good deal for 3-5 years.
What a great reputation for the Lakers to have, we aren’t going to play our young players so that we don’t have to pay them. Jeanie Sterling _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
