Johnson spent the last six seasons on the South Bay coaching staff, including one season as associate head coach (2022-23), four seasons as an assistant coach (2017-20, 2021-22) and one year as a coaching assistant (2016-17). Additionally, the Columbus, Ohio, native has served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers’ summer league team, including the 2017 squad that went on to win the championship in Las Vegas. Johnson first entered the coaching ranks by working at ‘The Hoop’ in Salem, Ore., a competitive youth basketball training facility.

South Bay Lakers Acquire Returning Player Rights to Louis King

The South Bay Lakers have announced their promotional theme night schedule for the 2023-24 season.
South Bay will host six theme nights throughout the season, beginning with Winter Wonderland on December 12.
Each theme night will feature fun in-game activations and showcase a specialty theme jersey, which will be raffled off to benefit local charitable organizations.

The NBA G League Draft will take place on October 28th at 10am PT. The South Bay Lakers enter the draft with the second overall pick. This will be their only pick in this years draft after trading away another 2023 1st round pick to acquire player rights to Trevelin Queen last season.
Following the draft, training camp will begin on October 30th.

The South Bay Lakers played in their first NBA G League Winter Showcase Cup game against the Rip City Remix as they lost 105-333, on Friday night. Quinndary Weatherspoon led the Lakers (0-1), in scoring with 21 points. Duop Reath paced the Remix (1-0), scoring 37 points.
It was a battle between South Bay’s Scotty Pippen Jr., and the Remix’s Reath to open the first frame, with the pair going back and forth, scoring 16 of the first 18 points of the contest.
* South Bay Lakers fall to Rip City Again (110-114)
